Twice in a day!

Blessings!

What a day we've had:) And to be able to share twice in a single day is fun:) Brother Craig continues to encourage me to write at least once a day if we are able. I am blessed:)

Well, we got some of the sewing finished. All the orders are done and we were able to get our own things cut out. Tomorrow, we will be able to start assembling them.

If we are able to go on our little camping trip, I will take the handcrank and do some of the sewing as we have some time:) I truly enjoy my handcrank and use it more than the other machines. I have two antique treadle machines, two antique handcrank machines, two electric machines (one is mine one is my youngest daughters), and a new treadle that my sweet husband bought for me for my birthday last year. It's wonderful! It fit right into my antique singer treadle cabinet and works beautifully:)

Here I'm making some headcoverings with my favorite machine. When I take to my bed, this fits nicely on my lap table so I can still do something productive while I'm not able to be downstairs:)

We spent time today getting the brooder cleaned up and ready for the next group of little critters:) It's not finished yet but we made some good progress on it. Tomorrow we'll get the underside raked out and fix the feeders as they took quite a beating from the ducklings.

Brother Craig is home mostly but he does have a few little side jobs he does each week. On Monday he teaches a fire science class at the college for a couple hours. Tuesday is the one day he's gone all day as he is a training officer at the volunteer fire department and he does a morning and an evening training drill as some work in the am and others in the pm. He also spend the middle of that day updating training records so pretty much he's gone all that day. On Wednesday evenings he trains at another volunteer fire department for a couple hours. The rest of the time we are blessed with him being home:)

Well, this being Wednesday, he was to train out at the fire department. They were doing a simulated crash and needed victims...guess who? Yep, the girls and I finished up our evening tasks a little early and got to go with him. We were covered with theatrical blood and such and placed inside these cars that had been drug into place (my car was upside down and the girls car was on its side, off the side of the road in some trees) It was a lot of fun:) It's always such a blessing to get to share in his doin's now and then:)

The stuff washed off well enough but I think I have a little rash from it on my arm. Thankfully, where I had it on my face doesn't seem to be having an issue. I was also bitten up pretty good last night from mosquitos so perhaps it was simply coincidental and those are just itching again:P

We came home just in time to do the evening milking and turn the animals all in. When we get home there is such a concert of welcome from all the critters:) The goats calling to us, the ducks singing their welcome, the chickens clucking out their protests at being put back in their pen before we left, even the horse sang his "welcome home" to us:) I wonder sometimes what the neighbors must think:)

Where we live is on the outskirts of a small town. Although we are rural (and so is the town) it seems so close to everything. We have never really lived this close before. Up until we moved here it took us nearly 2 hours to get anywhere! Including to a gas station! We had to be VERY careful that we didn't come home on empty:s

Anyway, even though we have 3 1/2 acres here, we still have neighbors. It's a little strange and aside from a few stares from them now and then they really don't socialize with us. But...I think we are rubbing off on them a bit. They just brought home a couple pigs a couple weeks ago and just last weekend we heard chickens down near their barn:) Who knows, maybe they'll be friendlier as time goes on:)

Well, I am ready for my bed. It's been a long and satisfying, productive day:) The good Lord has blessed us in so many ways this week. And it's only half over!:) Who knows what blessings tomorrow brings?

God bless each one of you real good!

God be with thee!

Oh, we know what that's like (working with the fire dept.). My hubby runs for the volunteer dept. in our area, in addition to his full time position. It's funny because my sons' friends are always in awe and ours think it's "old hat." LOL

I loved reading about your machines. I really wish I had better sewing skills. My mother was never into it--and my Gram had to as a necessity when growing up and had forsaken it as an adult. So--I've had no mentor and have taught myself what little I know. Care to give lessons? *wink*
I'm not sure why, but I can't see any of your pictures. I'm sure they are lovely. Have a wonderful day!

~~I really wish I knew what I was doing wrong. I have a url link to the pictures and it always comes up for me but lots of folks tell me they can't see them.
My mother sewed out of necessity too. I don't know that she ever really "taught" me, I just sort of copied her and picked up little things from watching her.
I have taught several folks to sew online:) In fact, my husband wants me to make a sewing lessons dvd. But we'll see:) I'm not very camera ready:s I am usually the one behind the camer not in front of it:)
God be with thee!

I don't see pictures either. Not sure where they went but they are not there.

Blessings,
