Be Ye Separate

Another Blessed Day:)

This is our back pasture. The girls have made their camp at the bottom. I will hopefully get a picture of their camp up this week (as soon as the batteries on the camery charge up):P

Blessings!

Today is even more beautiful than yesteray:) God is so good to shower us with His grace and mercy through the creation He has set for us to enjoy:)

This early evening I have some time to myself as the girls are down in the lower pasture in their "camp". They have really been enjoying it down there on their "off" time. Even the dog has abandoned me for greener "pastures":P

The baking is finally finished except for the last loaves that take the longest time to rise and bake and cool. Those will be baked around 8pm and then will set to cool until morning. Then we'll wrap those in waxed paper and foil to soften the crust for a day. They are so good in sandwiches and with stews:)

I did an extra load of wash today as we had company for two days and that makes for extra towels to do:) Those are easy though and not a bit of trouble:)

The house is filled with the aroma of Gods provision. A sweet fragance to my nose:) I wonder if the sacrifices made to God on the altars smelled this good. I imagine that I would want folks to do that often too, just to smell it:)

The garden is coming along fine. Although we had hoped to get it planted up on Saturday but that didn't work out. It started to rain a bit by the afternoon so we put it off. We had so much to do yesterday that nothing got looked at out there except for a little watering in the longhouses. (those are greenhouses by the way:P)  Those are getting so warm that we are having to leave them open most of the time or they cook the plants. This season promises an abundant harvest:)

The girls and I had to run to pick up medicines and to take our goat to the vet for a recheck. They still don't have the test results so hopefully by the end of this week. We are praying fervently that there is nothing wrong and that we can breathe easy and put her back in the herd:) The Lords will be done!

Our Adelaide (the Campbell Duck and general groundskeeper) has taken her job quite seriously these last few days. She marches up and down in the yard checking on all the animals all day. She has decided that she's a goat:) She spend all her "off" time with the Nubians and when it was raining Saturday she marched right out there and layed down inside the goat shelter with the Nubian girls:) She barks orders to the horse and has finally gotten the new buck to recognize her as the matriarch around here:) It's really quite funny. She was our first animal this time around and the goats came after her. The goats were all she knew for most of her growing up. It wasn't until we moved here that we got other ducks and chickens. And the entire time we are outside she has to talk to us. She plays fetch with her own ball while the dog plays with her own ball. The cat avoids her because she won't let the cats tail alone:) It's been quite the entertainment this afternoon:P

It's coming up time to do our shopping at the end of this month so we are gearing up for that. Getting out the necessary coolers to transport cold and frozen stuffs home, cleaning out the shelves, wiping down the shelves, cans and boxes, making sure the box of bags is put into the trailer so we are ready when it's time.

We have to make a whole day of it because we are so far away from most things here. Although we save ourselves an extra half hour now that we've moved here. Before we were nearly 2 hours away from anything. We can get to basic stuff if needed within 30 minutes of us but since we shop in bulk we make sure we are ready for that day out. We are almost always gone for two meals. We eat breakfast and then we are off and running. The girls and I pack a noon meal to find a nice spot to picnic and then supper is maybe a pizza or some other such place that doesn't cost much but we don't have to clean up either:P

Well, I'm rambling. It's near supper now and I should call the girls up, or maybe I"ll just take it down there and we'll have supper around their campfire:) Hmmm. I think that's what I'll do:)

   Have a very blessed evening!

God be with thee!

Sister Lori

Don't you just love how green everything is? My boys want to set up "camp" too. We had planned to stay out this past weekend, but it was a little too chilly. (And I could just imagine sleeping on the cold ground with my joint problems--I wouldn't move for a week!) I can just smell your bread baking. Can you smell my line dried quilts? (hee hee) I was just discussing my favorite summer smells. This is a wonderful time of year, isn't it? Perhaps you could share your bread recipe sometime? I have been a frequent visitor to your blog, too, so I'm glad we are now formally introduced!

~~God is so good to bring together folks even from far off, isn't He amazing?:)
I think my favorite spring smell is fresh mown hay/grass. Of course, my sneezing warn me long before I actually smell it:P
I shared our biggest bread recipe above. Hope you like it:)
God be with thee!

I have been very blessed sharing in your days. They have been a great encouragement to me in my own daily routine here. Sadly, we have been floundering lately with "routine" around here. And now, adding in bottle feeding the new foal...I feel as though I have to really push my days' limits to accomplish much.
It's a 'season' I know, but oh how I have slipped somewhere and allowed it to happen here. Reading your days has been a great encouragement for me to continue pressing on knowing that I can accomplish things...and the Scripture reminders just keep flowing into my mind as I read this or that here! It has been a breath of fresh air to my soul of late!
Thank you! for taking the time to share so much. I know you are more than occupied with "life" and Lord and computers are not always easy to fit into the equation :o)

~~Blessings Sister Deanna!
I know how difficult it can be when things sort of come up unexpectedly into our lives that seem to disrupt our flow. A flow that we worked so hard to establish.
We also call it "routine" rather than chores. It sounds better doesn't it?:P The way we schedule our routine is so that we don't feel like we are overwhelmed daily with so much that we can't accomplish it.
This is why we do the larger things on different days which gives us some time off in the mornings and afternoons to enjoy our farmstead and family:)
Then when those little unexpected things happen it doesn't disturb TOO much:) Although we all know that those moments do catch us by surprise at times:)
Know that you are in prayer to find that balance you need and the peace and joy within to accomplish your daily tasks.
Remember, when we get "comfortable" in our "routine" we get complacent. The Lord allows little things to come in and interupt our complacency to remind us that we are still alive in Him:)
God be with thee!

OH, to sleep under the stars, what memories that holds for me...Glad that this tradition is still alive...During our winter months we do quite a few fires to eat by..But in the summer months that is not allowed since we have huge mosquitos that rule the roost...lol...I really enjoyed your story about the ruler of your yard...lol..too cute..I would love to see the duck in action...lol Have a good one...Debbie

What Your Thanksgiving Meal Says About You
When it comes to the holidays, you follow and love the big traditions. You look forward to them every year.

You see the holidays as a time to be close to loved ones. It's a good time to reconnect and make memories.

You like the aspects of the holiday that remind you of your childhood - opening presents, treats, and old favorite foods.

During the holidays, you are likely to feel comforted. At your worst, you feel a bit over-indulgent.

You consider yourself to be a bit of a purist, and you're proud of it.

You tend to spend your holidays sharing and pitching in. You'll do whatever needs to be done.
