Blessings!

I pray this finds you all well.

Our last two days has been awful busy but productive:) God's provisions just never ceases to amaze me. I am so very thankful and blessed by His grace and mercy.

We finally were able to start the tilling around the longhouses (oh yes, someone asked me about that.) Some folks call them greenhouses. Anyway, we built two of them and want to build three more. I HAD three but since our unexpected little buckling showed up I donated that third one to a kid pen for him:) It worked out so well, we figure we'll just keep that for a kidpen for future use:)

The longhouses are in the front of the house as we have an acre between us and the road. The garden is being tilled in front of and surrounding the longhouses so as to utilize all that space as efficiently as possible.

By having this all out front means that we are able to set up business without having to open up the back acreage to outsiders and we dont' have to haul everything up front:) It will be very handy:)

The picture was taken a couple weeks ago when we first finished them and now they are filled to overflowing:) I really need a few more and soon:) They were so easy and inexpensive to build. These will also be very usable for winter gardening too as they are small enough that they easily warm without having to artificially heat them during the winter. We used them many years ago (although built from different materials then) but have since moved from that home and now we are back to having them:)

The "hen-pen" received new wire and in the next few weeks we'll be able to give the old "cackle-shack" a new paint job:) Just off the back of the cackle-shack is our outdoor brooder. It's so handy to have that as we can take care of everyone at the same time:)

We have 28 chickens of various breeds. And it looks like at least 4 of them are roosters. Not a bad thing as the last time we had purchased chicks with the promise they were hens we ended up with 14 roosters and only 3 hens! ugh:P Needless to say our freezer was mighty full that year:)

We have 2 silverlaced Wyandottes, 2 Auracauna, 3 Banty (2 are roosters), 1 Golden Laced Sebright (a rooster AND a surprise), 6 California Whites, 6 Rhode Island Reds, 4 Barred Rocks, and 4 Sexlinks (one is a rooster). The Sexlinks were given to us from the feedstore as the owner really just wanted to get rid of the rest of his chicks and offered us ALL of them (we had absolutely no place to keep 170 chicks:s) so we chose only 4 of a breed we hadn't tried before:)

My husband, later, told me I should have accepted them all and we could figure out what to do with them when I got home:P The funny thing is that when I DO bring something home unannounced he isn't always quite so accomodating:) I wish he's been with me:) But such is life:)

We were able to get the girls dosed and wormed too. It's a messy thing but easy to just do them all at once:) Despite how this looks, they really do like the stuff...icky:s We had to laugh when Blackberry jumped right up on the table as soon as Twinkie had gotten down:P

The mowing got done down the back pasture and raked real good. As did the front acre which really needed it:) We were doing it with our regular push mowers (non electric) because we didn't have a rider mower like we had at the old house (the landlords had provided that). Well, last week, we went to the local country auction (happens every Saturday), and saw a good mower there. We didn't have time to stay for the whole thing so we left them a bid for it. Well, we hadn't heard from them and figured we hadn't gotten it.

Tuesday, Brother Craig was speaking to one of his friends from the firehouse who had been at the auction and he asked him who had won it and how much it had gone for. Well, he said that it had gone for 35 dollars less than we had bid! So, first thing Wednesday morning he went to the auction house (they are closed Monday and Tuesday and they know we don't do business on Sundays) and lo and behold it was ours! The only thing it needed was new blades which Brother Craig picked up yesterday and has mowed down nearly all that needs it now:) We still use the powerless mowers on the front and side yards since they are smaller areas and we much prefer the quiet:)

All in all, with everyone helping and working we were able to get so much done today:) Lord willing we will be able to finish up everything tomorrow and be able to get back to our regular routine:)

   Have a very blessed weekend!

God be with thee!

Sister Lori

What Your Thanksgiving Meal Says About You
When it comes to the holidays, you follow and love the big traditions. You look forward to them every year.

You see the holidays as a time to be close to loved ones. It's a good time to reconnect and make memories.

You like the aspects of the holiday that remind you of your childhood - opening presents, treats, and old favorite foods.

During the holidays, you are likely to feel comforted. At your worst, you feel a bit over-indulgent.

You consider yourself to be a bit of a purist, and you're proud of it.

You tend to spend your holidays sharing and pitching in. You'll do whatever needs to be done.
