Be Ye Separate

The Journey is Only Just Begun

{ 15:53, Thursday, May 3, 2007 } { 9 comments } { Link }

For several years we have had folks asking us if we would share our journey and after much prayer and thought we have decided to give it a try.

I suppose the best place to start is by introducing our family:

I am Sister Lori married to Brother Craig. We have 7 children living and an angel awaiting us in Heaven. We are Mennonite and dress plain and live a much more simple and unfettered life than we once did. We make our own clothing with the exception of shoes and sock and we are working on both of those. We grow and raise most of our own foods and are striving to live a selfsustaining farm life one day.

We were not born to the Mennonite faith. We converted to it nearly 10 years ago now. It has been quite a journey so far and we are far from done. We are a work in progress and the Good Lord has seen fit to bless us in so many ways.

This always raises questions about how Mennonite don't have computers or electricty or telephones. Just as there are many different sects with the Baptist faith and several others, so too are there different sects with the Anabaptists. We are obviously not "Old Order" and we have a bit of a different view on certain things than some other more strict or cloistered sects. But that's another entry:)

We pray that this journal will be a blessing to those who read and share our journey here.

God be with thee!

Sister Lori

Glad to have you here at Homestead Blogger. I'm sure you'll find it to be a friendly place.
Some Mennonite families have settled in our state and I have found them to be very honorable people. It will be a pleasure to learn more about your family.
Please stop by for a visit at my blog if time allows.
Blessings from the Big Sky Country.......Denise (prairiemom)

What Your Thanksgiving Meal Says About You
When it comes to the holidays, you follow and love the big traditions. You look forward to them every year.

You see the holidays as a time to be close to loved ones. It's a good time to reconnect and make memories.

You like the aspects of the holiday that remind you of your childhood - opening presents, treats, and old favorite foods.

During the holidays, you are likely to feel comforted. At your worst, you feel a bit over-indulgent.

You consider yourself to be a bit of a purist, and you're proud of it.

You tend to spend your holidays sharing and pitching in. You'll do whatever needs to be done.

You Are an Indian
It's likely that you spent a lot of time outdoors as a kid.
You feel comfortable and at peace in nature. You identify with Native Americans.

You are a truly helpful and giving person. You like to lend a hand.
And while you do your best to do the right thing, people haven't always been kind back to you.
