I am sooooo happy, but also worried. I will explain..........
Two nights ago my little 4yr old had a fever and we were just about out of Motrin. Our local grocery, just 5 mi away had just closed 2o min before and I was going to have drive another 7mi past that one to the next town and get some..................I WASN"T WANTING TO GO! :-( Well upon walking in the store I stopped to read the community board, and low and behold................THERE WAS A FLYER FOR 4 MONTH OLD LAYING HENS FOR SALE!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!! :-)
WELL we were able to pick them up tonight. We got 11 hens and one rooster tonight that are about 4 months old. They are an assortment of Buffs, Barred Rock and Red Stars. We had to hurray and put together a temporary pen for them for the night. If you recall our 26 Red Star Sex Links were slaughtered a couple months ago by racoons. We took that completely down, racked the area etc. These new chickens are inside our goat yard. We made a "lean to" of the north side of the barn with a sheet of plywood for a roof and two posts on each corner and then wrapped chain link fence around all three sides. We will be making a much better coop as soon as we get time.
Anywho............please pray for safety for my new chickens as I am a bit (ok alot) nervous. :-) We even got a rooster this time to help protect them.
