Thursday, January 8, 2009 - New Year Re-thinkPosted by That Girl |
Just a few thoughts before I go to bed....This week because of beginning a New Year I have been rethinking some things. I have started exercising again, and hope to do it quite regularly. I manage to get 15 min. on the treadmill before work, and finish the other half plus some other routines after work. I want to keep the food we eat more simple. Just natural things like meat, veggies cooked i n broth, fruit, milk, yogurt, cheese, whole grains. Cut down on processed things, but not completly eliminate them, Hubby would not survive without bacon and sausage.
I also have cut WAY back on the t.v. I come home from work and watch the news (we just canceled our newspaper delivery) and then the t.v. goes off. I can`t tell you what a pleasant relaxing evening you can have with just some nice music or a relaxation cd playing. And I get so much more done, too. The only exception is when the phone rings all evening, like tonight!
We are trying to cut expenses, too. One automatic way is to have your dryer break, like ours did. I haven`t got a bill yet to compare the savings with, but I know we are saving by hanging them outside or in the basement. We have heat and a dehumidifier, so they dry really nice.
I am just going over everything we do to see where we can improve, save or cut back. If you have any ideas or suggestion, I`d love to hear them. Let`s make this the Year of Improvement!

Thursday, January 8, 2009 - New Blog Coming SoonPosted by Raina |

I thought I would make a post about my upcoming blog. It's about my journey with God and His increases to my family. Everyone who is struggling or praying for God to increase their quiver are so much more then welcome. It will have poems, and scriptures relating to this and prayers and of course I'll be praying and praying for some friends that need prayers. I want so much just to have a place to put my thoughts.
For everyone who visits my blog, you know how much I love the Lord and pray that He uses me and mine for His glory and His Kingdom. Sometimes there may not be things you agree with, but remember it's my blog and this is how the Lord is dealing with me.
God's word is His will.
ps. I'm not deleting this blog, just making another one. :O)

Thursday, January 8, 2009 - LaughterPosted by raspberry dreams |
We all need laughter in our lives. we all have problems which can at times seem so overwhelming that we just feel despair but seek laughter and know that it will help you on your way.
Lets all spread a little sunshine in our corners of the world.
'Laughter is the brush that sweeps away the cobwebs of the heart'.
Today try to share a lighter moment with someone you know who may need a boost.

At the height of laughter, the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities. ~Jean Houston
What soap is to the body, laughter is to the soul. ~Yiddish Proverb
A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor's book. ~Irish Proverb

Have a really fun day,
Blessings

Same Old Me
When I was in my younger days,
I weighed a few pounds less,
I needn't hold my tummy in
To wear a belted dress
But now that I am older,
I've set my body free;
There's comfort of elastic
Where once my waist would be.
Inventor of those high-heeled shoes
My feet have not forgiven;
I have to wear a nine now,
But used to wear a seven.
And how about those pantyhose--
They're sized by weight, you see,
So how come when I put them on,
The crotch is at my knees?
I need to wear these glasses
As the prints were getting smaller;
And it wasn't very long ago
I know that I was taller.
Though my hair has turned to silver
and my skin no longer fits,
On the inside, I'm the same old me,
Just the outside's changed a bit.

Thursday, January 8, 2009 - Eat More Oily FishPosted by raspberry dreams |
Oily fish includes tuna, salmon and mackerel.
It is packed with omega-3 essential fatty acid, Vitamin D and niacin.
Oily fish is good for all of us as it enhances our brain function and helps to alleviate depression. It can also help to reduce our cholesterol levels and help prevent heart disease and stroke. As well as all this is is essential for strong bones and for relieving the symptoms of arthritis.
We can include more in our diet in flaking it into pasta dishes and also adding to salads. |

Thursday, January 8, 2009 - How To Get A Good Nights SleepPosted by raspberry dreams |
|
The natural way to a good nights sleep -
1. Avoid any drinks that contain caffeine - tea, coffee, chocolate, cola - for several hours before you go to bed.
2. Have a mug of warm milk, or a cup of chamomile tea before you go to bed.
3. Don't go to bed hungry as this can keep you awake but avoid a full stomach at bedtime as this can cause indigestion.
4. Have starchy foods such as pasta, potatoes and bread for your supper - they stimulate your body to produce hormones that make you feel sleepy.
5. Sleep in a well-ventilated room that is not too warm.
6. Take regular exercise - this physically tires you and also helps to reduce stress, which can prevent you sleeping properly.
7. A drop of lavender aromatherapy oil in your evening bath or on your pillow can help you sleep. Dried hops are also said to be beneficial.

Thursday, January 8, 2009 - RSPB BirdwatchPosted by raspberry dreams |
|
Every year on the last weekend of January the RSPB hold a bird watch. It isn't necessary to be a member of the RSPB to participate, nor do you even have to leave your comfy chair indoors.
All you need to do is spend one hour during the specified two days watching the birds in your garden or local park and note the highest number of each species observed at any one time.
As a result of these observations the RSPB has been able to build up a picture of how well our common birds are doing and found among other things that the number of starlings, house sparrows and blackbirds continue to decline.
In 2004 400,000 people made a record of all the feathered friends that visited their backyard in the course of two days.
To fond out more about the RSPB and how to support them visit www.rspb.org.uk |

Thursday, January 8, 2009 - Just LOVEPosted by raspberry dreams |
Love in seven words is found
Think not of self but those around
They will then be, not just others
But friends to cherish, sisters, brothers.
