Picnic at the Resting Rock & dads new recliner

Well I hope everyone had a great week-end. I am sitting here at 2:30 in the afternoon and it is raining and the frogs are croaking! How cool it sounds. I love to hear rain fall but mostly I like to be in “out” of the rain while it is falling. We didn’t get the garden worked on this week-end but plans are already in the works for next. Randy, however did get the new doghouse built for Marsha. It is pretty neat looking and was a recycle project. He brought home one of those large wooden spools that wire comes on from work and took out a few panels from the center and made a nice little entry to the center. How cool huh?

We had a nice surprise Friday night for Randy. The girls have been talking for a long while how our recliner was broken and crooked and ready for the dump pile and they have been wanting to give Randy an early fathers (and step-fathers) day present of a nice new overstuffed recliner. So we finally saved and out we went shopping and found a great deal on just the perfect one. Here is the chair and the man (and now you know why we didn’t get the garden in this week!)

Actually he has been having a lot of pain in his heels for a while. He has tried several things and still no relief and has been taking Motrin 800 for it. This week-end I thought it would be a great idea to get some nice supportive boots as you know in shoes sometimes what you pay for is what you get. These were lace up Red Wings and he seems to really think they will make a difference. I hope so as they were close to $200.00. I also ordered some special walking inserts called Walk Fit that I hope will help as well. If he doesn’t improve soon we will be off to a foot doctor to see what is up.

Tomorrow we will be taking a field trip to the children’s museum. We have been there before and had a blast. Big Miss loves it as well as Little Miss does and you can’t hardly tell who is 7 or who is 17. Big Miss is still working on her dress and I last night I cut out a Capri set for Little Miss and will start it this afternoon. It is a pretty spring print O got from Hobby Lobby this week-end. They sure have some summery fabrics out! Makes ya want to buy some up and run home to sew….then we were off to to eat at Sante Fe as Randy really loves their bbq ribs (even better than Rib Cribs) and I just love to toss those peanut shells on the floor. Guess it makes me feel good since I am usually sweeping up a floor. Every once in a while it feels right to be the one that makes the mess, knowhatimean????

And on Sunday afternoon it was such a nice breezy sunny day we thought we would pack a picnic and go to Resting Rock -which is our special place out in the pastures where sometimes the cows gawk at you and always the dogs beg from you but we love it just the same. We grabbed our basket, threw in some fruit (grapes/orange slices), some French bread that I hurriedly defrosted from the freezer, mozzarella and white cheddar cheese chunks, nuts, and a few whole wheat chocolate mint cookies for good measure and oh yeah, the rest of the bottle of red wine (tea for the kiddos) and off we went. We found us a nice little green spot amongst the cow chips and knee high weeds. What bliss! Then Randy and Little Miss found their way down to the creek and we decided to go on another “adventure” as Little Miss says and walked till we were pooped! Along the way we found cocklebur bushes and played "how long can these little buggers hold on to our clothes in 50 mile an hour wind", and that was our Sunday eve.

Ok here is the Bubble Monster AKA Little Miss

(notice the mirror so she could get real creative)

I am going to leave you with this important thought.

Because we all know riches of the heart and soul have nothing to do with material goods. And you could have all the money in the world and be unhappy and bitter or suffer great tragedy. If you don’t have Joy now, just as you are, having oodles of money will not make a difference in the long-term. Money is a great tool that allows you to have more options, but it doesn’t fill up the empty places in your heart.

Find your contentment

Find your peace

Find it

Find it

Find it

Before you don’t look for it anymore….

And then you’ll just settle.

It’s out there, go find it, and it has nothing to do with money.

Your picnic sounds lovely, and right up our alley when it comes to entertainment:-) That sure reminds me of my dh in the recliner....mostly 'cause of the sleeping pose, and the way the remote is held..lol!
