Good morning homesteaders!

We had a great week-end and last week we had a lot of fun with a valentines party here on the homestead. What fun it is to just enjoy your family, you don't need anyone else to have a great time, God gave us the greatest of gifts in our children and family! We must learn to take up those precious moments and use them to the fullest.

On Saturday Randy and I decided to go to a German town in Texas called Muenster. Muenster is a very interesting town steeped in German history and tradition. Every April they have a big Germanfest there. So off we decided to go to try some of their famous German fare. I am so happy we did because it was so delicious! The Center Restaurant is family run, and they have family recipes that they still use (such as the Pagel sausage) and they have several varieties of sausage that they will serve you up and to go with it the best kraut you have ever eatin (seasoned with caraway and ham?) Also they make mouth watering German potatoes that are so good!!! (not the german potato salad we have all come to ignore) and they serve it with fresh rye bread with caraway seeds.... mmmm. The waitress filled us in with all the local history (check out the German prisoner camp -Camp Howze -from the 40's that alot of the people originally migrated from!) And then talked us into some German Chocolate cake (they make fresh baked every morn. along with strudel) They really had to twist our arm on that one.We had such a great time and I look forward to going back sometime. I told Randy I knew I was German when I bit into that sausage.... my ancestors knew what they were doing (after all, mom moms maiden name is Schlotzhauer)

Heres that cute rock mold that I have on thinking of getting off e-bay. I plan on making several for myself and gifts. You can put marbles in the eyes or just leave them solid. Don't you think they are too cute!

Now I am trying to talk Randy into helping me make one of these for the hill.... so far he seems to think we can do it.

Well I am getting really discouraged about the wheat prices. They keep continuing to climb with no hope in sight for it to become stable. The wheat I have been buying has gone up to 24.00 a bag but she said that will be about half of what it will be next time. I can't imagine paying 40.00 for a bag of wheat..... but she says it will be happening, and soon.

The hens are finally laying, we have got as many as 6 a day now. The weather is strange and I think they are trying to figure out is it Spring? or is it not!

Well Tommorrow is my and my honeys 10th anniversary. I can't imagine living my life without this wonderful guy and I am blessed beyond any reasoning and thank my God for choosing me!

I hope you have a great week!

do you have the cash to buy a large quantity right now? it is very easy to store. I am working on getting 1000 pounds in storage - I have about 1/2 that right now, and I am trying to get it bought in the next few months before it goes up astronomically!
