My Ramblings

today

lazy day today.  dh and fil went to cut grass, and my dad was out running around, so I was home alone today, but i enjoyed it.  I started my mom's shawl for Christmas, and got a good bit going.  I also finished a portrait of my cat that i started last week.  Dh has been wanting me to do it, so I did, and i'm pleased with it.  I'm sure it'll go somewhere in our new house.

Speaking of which, a lot has come along in the house.  Paint is up, trim is up, cabinets are up, formica is going up as i type, floors are being done this coming week.  So, Lord willing, we'll be ready to move in at the end of the week.  Also, Lord willing, we'll be having this baby at the end of the week, too. 

The weather has changed back to nice again.  It had gotten hot for about a week, but it's cooled off again.  I have a fall flower arrangement I want to do in our new house, so I'm really excited about the fall being here.  I saw the arrangement in an ad for Martha Stewart's flowers, but I can't afford her flowers for everyday occasion, so I think I'll try to make it myself.  I enjoy flower arranging, and it's pretty easy once you know a couple of basics.  Actually, when I was younger I did competative flower arranging.  So, anyway, the flowers are really halloween-esque (but not evil).  They were orange roses (or whichever large-blooming orange flowers you prefer, gerber daisies are equally pretty and often more affordable) placed with these dark purple, long-pointed, leafed plants.  I don't know what they are called.  I'm sure any sort of dark purple/black plant would do.  You could try some other sort of flower, too.  This arrangement struck my eye b/c I noticed my dad has these purple plants in his yard, so I'll clip some for the arrangement.  I think Walmart will have the orange flowers, b/c I don't have a garden.  But if they don't, I may check out a flower shop.  I don't know what the prices will be, though.  Maybe they'll have a day-or-so-old section of flowers.  Hmmm. 

I think dh and I will go out to eat tonight and maybe a movie.  We have to spray the carpet with this anti-flea stuff to kill the fleas that I think are in our carpet.  I can't figure out why they're there.  We don't have inside pets, but I hear they can get in from under your house sometimes.  Anyway, once we spray, we have to be gone at least an hour.  Have a great night!

Wow, I had no idea you used to do competitive flower arranging. Sounds like you and dh have a nice night out planned. I'm happy about your house!
