Saturday, November 22, 2008 - Prayer need for the grand babies bad!!Posted by m j |
I am in need of prayer for the grand-babies. Michelle went to Vegas to pick up the grand-babies. She took Gill and his parents. They were to meet my father but he is the hospital because his liver is not working.
What we need prayer is because Michelle's father is coming to Vegas to see the babies. Michelle's father molested her and more. We were in court for 14 years with him. He was found guilty but, nothing happened to him , no jail , nothing. His mother kidnapped Michelle 5 times too. Again nothing happened
Michelle has never told Gill or his parents about that. So in the morning Michelle father is going to meet them and be around the grand-babies. I would not mind so much if Michelle told Gill and his parents the truth about him. Not here is my dad.
To me I see then meeting just Michelle's father. Not the man who took her childhood away. The man we were in court for almost 14 years with trying to keep her safe.
Yes, I know she is an adult, she can make her own choices. But when it comes to the babies that is different. She wants to send the babies to stay with him for 2 weeks. The babies are 2 & 3 years old. They can not protect themselves from him.
I asked Michelle if they know the truth and she gets mad. I feel that they need to know the truth and then decide for themselves.
Please pray for the grand-babies to be safe and that Michelle does not let him see them alone.
God Bless, mj |

Saturday, November 22, 2008 - It's a wonderful lifePosted by m j |
I love the movie It's a wonderful life. How a bout you? I love the love story, faith, how people help one another out. What made me and my best friend Janet laugh was how much the price of a home was. In the movie they talked about a home costing $5000.00 !! For some people that is just a monthly payment not the total price of a new home!!
What happened to those days?? When a neighbor cared and help out a neighbor?? When you broke down (cars) people would help. Where you would share you blessing more, like the extra in your garden. Where people really respected each other. When it was safer for children to be children. What do we have for the kids today? On t.v we have sex, drugs, drinking violence , porn. Do you know that some underwear adds would have been porn back then?? What happened??? We need to go back to stronger values , to what is really important. God , family , friends, others.
Bring back the good old days......
God Bless, mj |

2008-Nov-21 - Our eyes were openedPosted by m j |
Hubby and I talked last night about the girls and how spoiled they are. How it came about was we had the roof repair man come over to look at the leak. He asked why we wanted to build a large house at our ranch. I told him the home that is there is only 1082 square feet and this house we live in is feeling smaller to us because we would like the grand babies to have a room just for them. How many square feet is this house he asked? 1500 square feet. He said his family of 4 live in a 865 square foot home. ( I feel bad for looking at a 4200 square foot home).
Then our daughter Shayna drove up, he asked if that was her truck? I looked at him and said yes. He just looked at me. He then asked if Kristi will be getting her own car? I said yes ,as soon as we can find the truck we are looking for. Then the girls started talking about what kind of 2 horse trailer they want because our 4 horse is to much from them to haul just 2 horse or pigs. The man asked me if we were going to buy them a 2 horse trailer? I said yes. He then had a look on his face that said they are spoiled.
It really open my eyes!! They are really spoiled!! Most children in a family do not each get their own trucks or a horse trailer. They would use mom and dads. They will share a horse trailer though. We do need a two horse trailer, it is not just for them. When we go to horse shows it is a waste of gas to haul a huge 4 horse trailer with just an Arabian and a pony.
So last night we talked and it was really an eye opener for us both to see that our children have never wanted for anything. My husband has worked very hard to give us what we need and more. But we realize we need to change some things. To see it through some ones else's eyes was the opener. We are going to change some things. I am not bragging or anything like that just sharing my growing some more. It was just a real eye opener. I mean a real eye opener !!
God Bless, mj

2008-Nov-21 - CHRISTmas Questions Part IIPosted by Kim Wolf<>< |
Got this one from Jen...
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? YES! lol Usually bags for friends and wrapping for family. Don't know why, it just ends up that way. My FAVORITE wrap is brown paper tied w/twine or raffia w/some sort of CHRISTmas Stampin' Up stamps.
2. Real tree or Artificial? We used to do the real ones, but I pick up quills ALL year, so we have used a fake one for years. Last year, however, we got the most wonderful tree!! It's very rustic - just the way I like it - it has just a touch of "snow" (so it doesn't look 'cheap') and pine cones and we put only vintage and rustic ornaments on it. LOVE IT! I hate to take it down!
3. When do you put up the tree? If not the day after Thanksgiving, then the weekend following.
5. Do you like eggnog? No.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? Hmmm...my Barbie Dream House. I'm old enough that it was the second edition, still cardboard, but it was WAY cool!!
7. Hardest person to buy for? My mom. She's very well off and has 2 of everything.
8. Easiest person to buy for? My dog, Maggie!
9. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes; it's the one my family has had since I was about 3 years old and is starting to fall apart. I'd like to get replacement Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus and a few animals from the company that does the wooden angels for all occasions (shoot, can't think of the name). While I'm at it ... I CAN'T STAND to see the wise men in a nativity scene!! They didn't find Jesus until He was 2 years old, for Pete's sake...so put them waaaaay over on the other side of the house that they can make a journey of it!
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Both. If I have your e-mail address, you'll probably get an e-mail; family and friends w/o e-mail get cards.
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? OK...I'm serious here...no joke...My dear grandma was a very frugal gal, having lived through the Depression she was always thinking of USEFUL things to give. The first CHRISTmas we were married she gave us a can of Crisco w/a bow on top!! lol
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? White CHRISTmas.
13. When do you start shopping? Usually in December.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Yes. 'Nuff said.
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? My mom's stuffing!
16. Lights on the tree? White.
17. Favorite Christmas song? O Holy Night and I Wonder as I Wander. I have a really beautiful arrangement of 'I Wonder...' that I worked out on my hammered dulcimer.
18.Travel at Christmas or stay home? We usually go to my mom's house.
19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer’s? Possibly...um...no.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? A rustic star.
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? We have our OWN family CHRISTmas on CHRISTmas Eve morning - when the girls were little we were always rushing all over the place and we weren't making OUR OWN memories and they couldn't enjoy their news clothes or toys. So, when our oldest was about 5 we started our own tradition on the day before.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year. The emphasis on Santa and stores putting up CHRISTmas - eh hem - I mean 'holiday' decorations BEFORE halloween!!
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Rustic, vintage.
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Didn't I answer that? My mom's stuffing.
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? A digital camera. |

Friday, November 21, 2008 - A Sad Note... Moving & MorePosted by Catherine Ann |
On a sad note, my husband's step-mom passed away early this morning. She has been in failing health for a very long time, and though her quick passing was a shock, we know she is at peace now, and at home with the Lord. My husband had the special blessing of baptizing her and his step-sister a few years ago, after a long, long time of prayer for them. So, those of you who have been praying for your family members for years...don't give up!
On a brighter note, after what seems like a very long wait.....in my book, 3 months past the original move in date is quite a wait ; we are in the process of moving into our "new nest". It still isn't really ready for us, but lack of adequate heating in this house and a stove that only broils (which doesn't do much for my temper, either), is more than reason enough for us to go on with the move and let my husband deal with whatever must be done in the other house in the next few days.
I have 1/2 the house packed, 1/2 unpacked and absolutely no energy to get it done with being up most of last night. I've also had some issues with a pinched nerve in my back, so I'm virtually useless when it comes to lifting anything or carrying boxes. We should have some manpower to help with the beds and other furniture tomorrow, though.
Our game plan is to get the big things moved this weekend, and at least get the kitchen in order so I can cook Thanksgiving dinner there. The rest will come as we have opportunity.
I will be offline after tonight for a few days at least.
I pray that you and yours have a lovely Thanksgiving. We do have much to be thankful for!
Blessings,
Catherine

The holidays are near so I want to know...
1.
Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Hot chocolate!
2.
Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Nope, never did the Santa-thing. Jesus supplies the gifts – that’s what we’ve always told them.
3.
Colored lights on tree/house or white?
White
4.
Do you hang mistletoe?
yes
5.
When do you put your decorations up?
always right after Thanksgiving :)
6.
What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
My mom’s stuffing.
7.
Favorite holiday memory as a child:
When I was about 11, I couldn’t sleep one Christmas Eve night and I had my radio on. It was about 2a.m. and Nat King Cole’s “Chestnuts Roasting” came on while huge, fluffy snowflakes floated down outside my windows. Ahhhh.
8.
When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
2nd or 3rd grade.
9.
Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Yes. So that OUR family can make our own Christmas memories, we open our own presents on Christmas Eve morning so that it’s not interrupted by having to leave to go to someone’s house.
10.
How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
We got a new Christmas tree last year that is very real-looking w/just a little ‘snow’ and pinecones on it. We put away many of our more trendy ornaments for the girls to have one of these days and now only use the more vintage and backwoods-looking ornaments. It’s very rustic and I LOVE IT!!
11.
Snow! Love it or Dread it?
I love snow...especially when I’m inside looking out!
12.
Can you ice skate?
That’s up for interpretation…I’ve roller skated all my life and only ice skated once.
13.
Do you remember your favorite gift?
Christmas of 1998, Ty got me my hammered dulcimer!!
14.
What is the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
Remembering God's gift to us in His Son Jesus and having my family all together for Christmas.
15.
What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
Pumpkin pie and red velvet cake.
16.
What is your favorite holiday tradition?
The big family meal – everyone together and happy.
17.
What tops your tree?
A rustic star
18.
Which do you prefer giving or receiving?
Definitely giving
19.
What is your favorite Christmas Song?
O Holy Night and I Wonder as I Wander
20.
Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?
Yum.
21.
What do you want for Christmas?
A digital camera
22.
Do you attend an annual Christmas Party?
Ty’s work and – if can call it a party – our annual Christmas Eve service.
23.
Do you dress up on Christmas or wear PJs?
When I was little we dressed up for the meal. Now we just wear ‘nice’ jeans and maybe a ‘dress’ blouse/shirt or sweater.
24. Do you own a Santa hat?
nope – don’t do the Santa-thing here.
25.
Who do you normally spend Christmas with?
Our family ~~ Christmas Eve day is for our own family; the weekend before Christmas day is w/Ty’s side of the family, Christmas Day is usually w/my side of the family.

Friday, November 21 - Do you have your seed catalogs yet?Posted by Glory Farm |
Sitting here at my computer, my toes turning blue, I hear the sweet peeps of baby chicks. It's a wonderful springtime sound. But I know it's not spring. It's not even Christmas. And the only reason they're down in the basement is because it got so cold in the coop,, Mama couldn't keep them warm anymore. We only have 4 of 14 left.
Last Monday, guess what came in the mail? Yep, my first seed catalog. Nope, it's not too early. My Johnny's catalog came and I've already made out my order. Then yesterday, my Nichol's catalog came, so I'm comparing prices, etc. Looks to me like the prices have gone up again. I saved some seeds from last year's plants, but cabbage, carrots, beets, these are hard to save seeds from. Need to give them two years and I have a hard time doing that.
I suppose I should keep my mind on finishing Christmas gifts. But the sun is shining, the chicks are peeping, my seed catalogs are sitting on the table. Ahh...hope springs eternal. If it weren't for all of the frost on the windows and my blue toes, I could just about think it's spring! |

2008-Nov-20 - Thanksgiving TroublePosted by m j |
Do you think a husband should talk to his wife about who is coming to Thanksgiving dinner before anyone else(his mom)?? I found out from my mother-in-law that my husbands cousin , her hubby and 3 children are coming to dinner. I asked hubby why did he not tell me me? He told me I was making a big deal over nothing. I said no ,but as your wife I should find out from you not your mom leaving a message as to who is coming to dinner. As it is his mom is telling me when she will be here staying in a hotel , for how many days and when hubbies grandma will be here(our house) and how many days she will stay with us for me to care for !!
I can not care for his grandma by my self, the girls will have to help. My leg is still broken after 11 months, I have to have more surgery, I walk with a limp and am not anywhere near as strong as I was. How am I to pick up and carry his grandma in and out of the tub to giver her a bath and pick her up when she falls?? I love his grandma , and will do my best.
Oh well, God Bless, mj
