A day in my life ~July~![]() We got home about 9 and I was sleepy... the children played and I dozed for a little bit on the couch. I felt rather like a heel for dozing and jumped up to get busy. I started laundry and began to straighten the kitchen. Before long it was lunch time and time to enjoy my favorite blogs. We left early because we needed to go and get the van serviced for our mini-cation this weekend. When I stopped by the mailbox, I received a glorious blessing. A precious lady and her family sent a note of encouragement and a gift to our family... V, you have no idea how this has BLESSED our hearts... It was truly amazing to see God work. (((HUGS))) We picked Shannon up from work and had a nice little drive home. We stopped by Walmart, for I needed some cilantro. Mine bit the dust a while back and now I have none when it is prime salsa making time. And also Carlie Jean's bicycle seat broke off... her big brother was riding it and wrecked and well, you get the idea. So anyhow, in I go to Walmart. ~Now I want you to remember that I believe I serve a God that wants to be involved in ALL areas of our lives, big, small and in between~ I was searching for that bicycle seat, finding only HUGE and expensive ones... not suitable for little CJ's bike. I finally went to a saleslady and asked if she knew if there were any... She hesitated and said, "Hang on a minute" She came back and said, "This one is laying around in the back... take it home." It is perfect for Carlie Jean's bike! Hooray!!! God is so good!!! So my day really began this afternoon around 5:00... I made a quick supper because the children were going to VBS at my Dad's church this week (Doesn't that just tickle you to death? It does me! My DAD'S church!!! My DAD is in church now! Yippee!). After I got everyone fed I started making up my salsa. I have to tell you, I think this is the prettiest salsa I have ever made. It is so vibrant and lovely. Even after I made all 11 pints of salsa I still had this left out of the garden... it was sitting on my table in the afternoon sunlight and looked beautiful. While the salsa was processing I was tidying up around the kitchen... You have to see the good with the bad... hee hee. And the fruit and veggies and nuts were longing to have their pictures taken... such pretty food.Black Walnuts, I have to do something with these soon... they have been lingering in my kitchen for too long. Lovely lemons and limes... the limes will be made into lime cordial for the freezer and the lemons will be fresh lemonade for tomorrow nights supper. And me and my silly self of course can't say lovely limes without thinking of one of my all time favorite movies Little Women...Amy: I'm so degretitated. I owe at least a dozen limes! Plums. I plan to make something out of these tomorrow... do you have a favorite recipe? If so, please let me know! :)And now that I am on a tangent I am thinking of plums and another of my FAVORITES... Anne of Green Gables [Anne is deeply depressed, and Marilla tries to cheer her up by offering her some homemade plum puffs] Anne Shirley: Plum puffs won't minister to a mind diseased in a world that's crumbled into pieces. Marilla Cuthbert: Well I'm glad to see that your dented spirits haven't injured your tongue. So after a rather slow start we are finishing well...This is where I long to be right now sitting in my favorite chair, covered with my treasured quilt, stitching on a potholder... before I begin a mesh shopping tote... Oh look at my little cookies for my Etsy shop. I think they are sweet. Have a beautiful day my friends... thanks for visiting me and sharing my Day in my Life post.My Cup Runneth Over...Chas
10:34 - Monday, July 14, 2008 - comments {6} - post commentA Day in My Life...~May![]() A day in my life~May 14th My day was lovely yesterday, busy... but lovely nonetheless. I believe that laundry was started as my feet touched the floor.... but it was a gorgeous day for laundry, I was able to wash the sheets and quilts and line dry everything. ![]() I had roasted the chicken bones from Monday nights dinner and had a beautiful stock ready for our Chicken Soup. ![]() I tended to the garden and my plants, I weeded the herb garden and watered my luffa sprouts ![]() The children and I made noodles for our soup. ![]() A rack that I had purchased to use in my cabinet organizing doubled up and became the perfect drying rack for our pasta... We enjoyed the homemade noodles so much, I plan on making those again and trying my hand at other types of whole wheat noodles. The worms are doing exceptional and we tossed in some strawberry tops ![]() I helped the children set up a tent for their camp-out. ![]() With the temperature dipping so low last night, and such a large chance of rain, and the fact that I REALLY didn't want to sleep on the ground last night, I knew quite well that it wouldn't be a real camp-out... But... I couldn't tell them just yet, look at them, could you? We had our family devotion after Shannon came in from visitation, I love to hear the children pray. Abram has been praying for his family and such, but now since there has been heavy equipment working in the future pasture... every night he thanks God for excavators and dump trucks and dozers. Shannon and I watched the last bit of Braveheart last night. You know you are getting pretty old when it takes you at least 5 separate nights to watch a 177 minute movie... It is Shannon's ALL time favorite movie, and it is very good. Gruesome at times, where I hid my head, but very good. While I watched the movie I worked on my quilting... Finally, I laid wearily down beside my favorite person in the whole world... Shannon and I talked and snuggled and then I prayed and went to sleep, it was a beautiful day and I am thankful to have lived it.My Cup Runneth Over...Chas
06:27 - Wednesday, May 14, 2008 - comments {9} - post commentA day in my life~April The day started with me being quite tired from a restless night... Bible devotion done first and then getting dressed to start my day. School was put on hold to see if Cameo was feeling any better. We had whole wheat pancakes for breakfast and a cold glass of milk. Laundry was started and folded and put away. Beds were made and rooms tidied. The children read books and had some quiet play while I worked on my new duties as Senior Editor. By lunch Cameo was feeling better... we had lunch and then we actually started getting more things done. We cleaned cabinets Cameo chopped olives for our supper Supper was on its way (Taco Soup) I had a little who was being rather fussy so in the backpack he went... I finished putting up the wallpaper in the kids bathroom. After Shannon came home the 'men' of the family went to the dump and to Grandmaw Sandy's and Grandpa Jerome's, I was surprised with a bouquet of sweetness upon their return. The day was rather cold, compared to our gorgeous 75* temps as of late...Today we hovered around (see below) with a cold wind. We had a great evening and played Frogger on Facebook. Such fun. (Please excuse Carlie's MESSY hair!) We played the Mexican Train Game and then got everyone ready for bed. Enjoy your day today my friends. My Cup Runneth Over...Chas
08:02 - Tuesday, April 15, 2008 - comments {7} - post commentA day in my life...![]() One of my favorite blogs Little Jenny Wren is hosting a day in my life meme where we can join along and let each other see what interesting lives we SAHW+M's really have. I was a little late on getting in on this and so my day will be in retrospect as well as futurespect ![]() Just a normal day around my home. I usually wake with Shannon around 5:30 am. Most of the time it is difficult to rise, but always am I glad after I have. I get excited after the desire to stay in a cozy bed wears off! I make the bed as I get up and then I go and I start coffee and sit down for devotion time. ![]() After some wonderful time gathering my strength from the Lord for the day, I usually sit down and blog... I check my email and my message boards and then I get serious... ![]() Time to get dressed. Shannon loves to see me in a dress or skirt and I feel pretty when I have one on. If you were to come and visit me during the day, you would most likely find me in a dress, with an apron. I find it very comfortable to work in and I feel very feminine as well... and in this day and age, we need to embrace the way God made us... as women!!! (Ok, no soapbox for today!) I start laundry if I need to... and with our family of 6 there is almost always a need to! Once it is daylight and if it is nice outside (which it has been lately) I run and get the laundry on the line. ![]() My children are usually ravenous and will most likely eat me up if I don't try and have something ready for them almost immediately after their feet hit the floor, so it is now time for breakfast! My wheat biscuits look especially tasty and fluffy today. After breakfast is over the children have their morning chores and routine to go through.... make beds, change clothes, brush teeth, comb hair, tidy room and then feed the animals. I usually have to stay quite close behind them to make sure these things happen in a timely fashion or we could be missing the whole morning!By this time it is around 9:00 am or there abouts. If things are running smoothly we go to the schoolroom. We spend a good time in here, and I run back and forth doing other things we need done when the children are doing their seatwork.I try and get some bread ready for lunch while we are doing our school time. ![]() We have lunch around noon each day and we usually watch a Moody Science Video during lunch time on the computer. Afterwards the kids always help me clean up. ![]() After we clean up and then try and get outside. We work in the garden or around the yard, or we just play for a while. Once we have had some fresh air and exercise we come back in and have quiet hour. During this time we read or I sew... whatever we do it is a time just to be still and quiet. If the smaller children are really tired they may nap. At 3:00 I start planning supper if I haven't already. If it is a crockpot meal, it is already cooking in the crock. If not, this is when I start getting all my prep work done. The children will help me tidy the house here, getting the clothes put away off the line or toys picked up and schoolwork put away for the day... or if they haven't finished some of their work, they will finish it at this time.![]() Shannon comes home at 4:00 pm and we work outside with him in the garden or doing the other necessaries like folding clothes or whatever. We usually have supper around 5:30. After supper, we clean up and sometimes go back outside if it is warm enough. If not, we have a time of family gathering... we play games, we read books... whatever. We just enjoy each other. After this we have Family Devotion time, we sing hymns, we read the Bible, we praise God for what He has done for us and then we pray together.Around 8:00 pm the children get ready for bed. They go to bed between 8 and 9. Shannon and I turn in not too long thereafter. Sometimes I will sit up and plan the next days school activities or grocery list or do some reading or sewing or cleaning. Our days are not glamorous but they are special and I wouldn't trade them for the most any other type of days out there! Have a great one my friends!!! My Cup Runneth Over...Chas
