My main blog is still at a different location, but when I found the homesteadblogger, I knew I had to join. I have read several of the entries from all of you and have come to the realization that, YA'LL HAVE MY LIFE. Or atleast the life that I dream of. I don't know if any of you remember the movie from about 20 years ago entitled, "Baby Boom". It is about a big-time ad exec who, through a series of circumstances, ends up moving and buying a farmhouse with apple orchards in a little bitty town in Vermont and starts her own baby food business with all the apples. I watch that movie and I long for that type of life, I call it the "Simple Life".
My husband had worked as a lab technician for 14 years when his company shut down their business here a few years ago and moved to Chicago. We opted not to move up there and have been pretty much making our own way since then. Last year we decided to sell our house and move to Florida. We lived in our camper for a year, then we realized that the five of us and our dog, were a bit too much for that camper, so we moved back home to Georgia and are now living in the upstairs at my parents' house waiting to see what we are supposed to do next. We are still in search of that "family business" that we can make become our dream and be able to have the lifestyle that we desire. No, I don't mean a lifestyle of luxury by anymeans, I mean a "family business" where we could all be involved, and our schedule would be more flixible. And of course, then move to the country somewhere and start our own "homestead". Maybe then I will feel comfortable or worthy to call myself a homestead blogger. I guess for now I will have to be content with just being a "wannabe" homesteader, and continue to post my "ramblings" on my other blog. If you would like to read them I would feel honored. |
