Smoke Detectors
Last Night I went through the house to check smoke detectors and to replace batteries.... first of the year. Anyway I was SHOCKED to find out that the one in the basement (where the furnace is) and the one in the laundry room (dryer) were both DEAD!!! I hadn't faithfully checked them through the year.... aren't they supposed to beep when the battery is running low??? Yikes! This was a big wake up call for me..... the fall before I got married my parent's home was destroyed by fire (I was still living at home). The ones in the main parts of the house were fine... and I do check them regularly. We heat with wood and I have smoke detectors in almost every room of the house.... How could I be so neglectful to not check the basement and laundry room??? Well, new batteries were installed last night and we again went over our fire safety plan with our kids. The kids sleep upstairs and our bedroom is downstairs (I love this for every other reason except for a fire) so we have practiced several times with them what to do.
Go check those smoke detectors!!!!!!!
