Frugal Tip

2008 Goal: Complete our DEBT FREE (down to the house) goal we have been working on for 3 years!!!  God is faithful and we are living SOLUTION focused this year.  (please see yesterday's post for more on that)  Anyway, saving money at the store is a great way to stretch money and that takes creativity.  One thing I love is the "foaming" hand soap... but I don't like the price tag that goes with it.  However, you don't have to buy their special soap for those soap dispensers..... the best way (and most frugal) is to refill the container with about 1 inch of dish soap (the kind you use in the kitchen) and the rest of the way up with HOT water.  Shake to mix.

Last week sometime I was at the store (for the like of me I can't remember where) and I saw some really cool soap for kids.  It is dyed so kids can see exactly what parts of their hands have soap and can see exactly where they didn't rinse well.  I didn't buy any (too pricey) but have kept thinking about it.  I have four children that often don't do the best hand washing...... this got me to thinking and I talked it over with my sister.  How could I make this colored soap to help my children visualize hand washing better?  I did a little experiment and it worked!!!!  I simply added a few drops of  blue food coloring to our existing "foaming" soap.  Now the soap foam is BLUE and it has been good for the kids.... we made it into a game and it has been fun!  The food coloring doesn't dye the hands blue, but does show up good in the soap.  The kids have fun scrubbing till their entire hands are blue and then rinsing till it is all off.

Have a BLESSED day!
Be a BLESSING!!!
Heather
