Happy New Year!!!

This time of year we often become reflective of our lives and look at the year to come with a sense of renewed possibilities.  We contemplate the challenges we have faced as well as  the victories we have experienced.  We all look ahead desiring to make the next year better.  Sometimes, quite frankly, we are just glad to have the year behind us.  Some years are just extra rough.  It is so easy to become problem focused…. we live our challenges day in and day out.  There has to be a better way!  That is the excitement of the New Year!  This is the time to determine our new goals!

Our pastor preached a wonderful message on Sunday.  It was a message that has had me thinking ever since… I love that kind because I know it is God trying to teach me something.  Anyway, his message challenged us to “live SOLUTION focused rather than PROBLEM focused.”  God has a solution for every one of our problems but we won’t ever walk in victory unless we grab hold of the solution for dear life and run with it.  The hard part about living like this is that grabbing the solution and walking it out is much more difficult for us than just dwelling on the problem.  Walking out the solution requires effort and change, things that take deliberate action on our part.  Focusing on the problem can be the “easy” way out…. Life has always been this way and it probably always will be.  Yuck!  I don’t want to live that way at all!

Identifying our “problems” is the first step.  We often make New Year’s resolutions with grand notions of eliminating all bad habits or downfalls to our lives.  We want the stress and problems gone!  The problem is we crash and burn from our big attempts at change or we get overwhelmed just looking at all that needs done that we don’t end us doing anything.

The top two New Year’s resolutions are 1) loose weight   2) get organized.

I can relate to both of those…. I could stand to get in better shape and just ask my sister, Melissa, I have NEVER been naturally organized.  Being organized takes deliberate effort on my part.  One thing that takes a ton of stress out of my life in knowing what I am fixing for supper.  I always have a hungry family and come 5 o’clock I hate wondering “what are we going to have tonight?”  I put an end to this stress by becoming “solution focused”:  I plan out my meals and have all the ingredients on hand.  I would love to get rid of this stress from your life, too!

With the Simple Family Supper menu plan you will have the “solution” to the daily “What is for supper?” problem.  The menu plan comes complete with all the easy to prepare recipes (no degree in cooking needed J ) and the shopping list to make sure you have all the ingredients on hand (no more extra last minute trips to the store).

I challenge you to become solution focused rather than problem focused with all the stresses!  Whatever problems you are facing today, God has the answer!  Seek Him and he will lead you to the solution you need to walk out.  The hard part is the doing, but God will give you the strength and grace you need!  If www.simplefamilysupper.com can help you solve some stress in your life, please stop by for a visit.  It is my prayer that 2008 is a year of great victory in your life!  I pray that God leads you to solutions for all of your problems and stresses.  He loves you and wants you to walk in peace!

Happy New Year!!!!!!!
