Stress???

As wonderful as the holidays (or any day for that matter) can be, we often experience stress.....
Today in my devotional there was an interesting closing quote I think is very good, one I will really be thinking about.

" The cause of our emotional ups and downs comes from within us- not what happens to us, but what we tell ourselves as we interpret what's happening to us..... What we tell ourselves determines the quality of our lives."  William Backus (from his book Telling Yourself the Truth)

Another quote that has been haunting me all week is from Charles Swindoll:
"I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.  We are in charge of our attitudes."

Stress is caused by stepping outside of the Will of God......

Just because the calendar says "it's time to spend the day / week with ____" or "it's time to buy gifts for people because" is when we get stressed.

If we would just walk in His Ways, the stress would be gone!

A great reminder for us at this time of year..... you are right -- we can choose to be stressed -- we can choose to have a hectic and crazy holiday season or we can choose to simplify ...... we choose to create the stress -- on the other hand we can embrace the beauty and simplicity of this season and not engage in those things that rob us of our strength and energy.......

Years ago I was one stressed mama! Christmas was an awul time for me...... then the lord did a great work on my heart.... I let go of a lot of things....... things that I thought I had to do..... like Santa, presents, baking etc.

Now instead of stress -- Christmas is met with anticipation and JOY! I don't stress anymore.........

WE can do all things thru Christ that strengthen us!

I hope you enjoy a lovely and peaceful season!

Gloria :)
