My hubby and I have been digging our way out of debt for 3 years. We have been greatly inspired by Dave Ramsey... check him out and I bet you will want to "live like no one else so that later you can live like no one else!"
Anyway, here are some great quotes on debt that were just in his monthly email newsletter.
The German root for the word "debt" is the same as for "guilt." (I am of German heritage so this one was very interesting to me. In fact I look very "german", I recently had a conversation with a man that works back and forth from Germany and the us... I was telling him of my german immigrant family and he asked me how many generations back... I answered 4.... He was surprised by this and said I look like a first generation german. It really made me feel better about my "sharp" facial features and somehow made me feel more connected to my heritage. I have always loved history and have been extremely interested in the stories of immigrants. OK... this is not on topic... just some ramblings!)
We have been sold debt so thoroughly that it has stolen our hope. - Dave
It takes as much imagination to create debt as to create income. - Leonard Orr
Rather go to bed supperless than rise in debt. - Ben Franklin
Do not accustom yourself to consider debt only as an inconvenience; you will find it a calamity.
- Samuel Johnson
It's a matter of giving more to this world than you take from it, so when you die, you don't owe it anything. - Gordon Parks |
