Well, I beat my husband's record buck..... with my car!
GOD is GOOD!!!! I was driving from the grocery store and from picking up our ground deer meat from the meat processing plant when... WHAM!!!! A monster buck decided to run right into the side of my car! I never saw him coming... which I think was a blessing! The Bucks are in rut and are completely overrun with hormones and are on the run looking for willing does!!! The sheriff that came out said he had just done another report earlier and my insurance guy said I was the second call today! Anyway, my son and I were fine.... the airbags went off and my arm took a little beating, and my neck is stiff, but compared to what it could have been....... The deer is HUGE, (monster 8 pointer) and he just dropped dead... the man that stopped to help me had to drag him off the road. I "tagged" the deer and took possesion of the deer and it is now hanging in our barn.... we are going to try to butcher any meat that might be good and we are going to have it mounted. I wasn't sure I would want to get it mounted.... if I had shot it I would be so proud.... but when the stupid thing commits suicide on the side of my car at 2:45 in the afternoon...... However, my husband said we need to have it mounted out of respect of the deer (he is a fine looking deer) and to serve as a reminder to drive carefully and as a visual reminder of God's protection!!!! I know that the angels just took over and maintained control of the car.... the car never swerved, stayed straight and stopped almost immedietly. I could have easily lost control and been thrown into the electric pole or large tree that was right there!!!!! Every one said that if that deer had hit a little farther to the front it would have easily come through my dash...... or a little farther back and it would have hit the doors (on the side of my son and I)...... that kind of impact could have made me loose control of the car. God is GOOD!! Psalms 91 is TRUE!!!!
I also gained a lot of confidence in human kind..... with in 30 seconds of getting myself and our son out of the car a high school kid ( school had just let out) stopped to see if I needed help. While he was still there another man (a landscaper from my local area) stopped and STAYED with me until the officer arrived (about 20 minutes). He also got out his coat from his truck to wrap around my 3 year old! The road is a country road, but well used..... so many people stopped to offer help.... I knew several because it happened less than 1/2 mile north of my in-laws! If it was going to happen, I 'm glad it was there!!! My hubby got there as soon as he could (he had to pick our Ethan up from preschool first), and my husband's uncle (lives just down the road from the accident) brought his tractor over and hauled the deer to his place. It ended up to be a long afternoon..... had to have my arm x-rayed..... praise God, it isn't broken, just bruised and swollen from hitting the air bag and steering wheel, and then we had to get the deer gutted and hauled to our place.
Long story short: #1) Claim God's promises in your life! Believe PSALM 91.... pray it over your family!!!! God will keep you safe!!!!! #2) Make lemonade out of life's lemons..... eat the deer that totaled your car!!!!

Wow! That is some deer. We live on country roads too and this time of year they are everywhere. I am glad you are all safe.

You certainly got a trophy deer, but not exactly the way you wanted to
| I am almost paranoid to drive anymore with the deer coming from all directions. I am just thankful you weren't injured seriously nor was your child. Deer hunting season starts here on Sat. morning and those things will be everywhere. I do enjoy your blog... |

Praising God you are okay!
| Saying "no fair" about 2 trophy deer in one year! I'm just kidding about that of course! I was surprised when I opened the blog to see that picture..lol! My dh is out with his bow this morning, and ds is going out tomorrow as he has no college classes. We're really looking forward to some venison again! |
