FlyLady has taught me how incredible routines are! They have become a huge blessing in our life and keep our home running smoothly (notice I did not say perfectly). Since I am raising future adults and not future Children they need to be given the power of routine. These early learned lessons will become second nature to them and serve them all their days. Anyway, for the last three years I have had written routines for my children to follow each morning and after school. It gives us structure, but isn't a minute by minute plan. Each year I have adapted it to meet our needs and have grown the routine a little more each year. This year my children have graduated to alarm clocks. (they are ages 10 and 8) I can not tell you how empowering this has been for them and how relieving this has been for me! I am no longer the bad guy waking them up!!!!!! I am now greeted each morning with a smile rather than a grunt!!!
Following you will see their morning and afternoon routines. I hope it might give you some structure to go with if you want to create written routines for your children. We have our routines in sheet protectors and have them hanging on the kitchen wall under the calendar.
Have a great day!
Heather
