Blessings in the color yellow!
I really LOVE summer and days like today are one of the big reasons why I do. Some friends called and asked if we would want some corn.... they have an abundant crop. Of course.... we will always take corn. Well, lo and behold, did they give me corn.... 20 DOZEN to be exact!!!!!! We ate to our hearts content for dinner and we worked as a family to shuck it all. After supper my hubby and I worked together to wash, cook, cut and package all 33 (5 cups each) packages for the freezer. WoW that corn will be a yummy reminder of summer as the snow flies!!!!!
My husband made the comment as we worked together with our four children that moments like this are what he so enjoys. The simple task of spending a few hours together outside laughing, talking and tackling a family project are moments of pure joy. No hustle, no bustle, no "entertainment", just us enjoying the company of each other while working together to accomplish a task that we will all benefit from in the future. So, I chalk up today with great satisfaction. Yummy food is tucked away in the freezer and memories are tucked away in my heart!
