Looking for the Bright Side

Tell me, can it get any better than this? I think not, my friend.

• Tuesday, August 26, 2008 - Curry Pants

Posted in Craftiness
So I found the cutest shirt at the thrift store a while back, and I discovered that Little Man is actually big enough to wear it now! Yeah. The print is adorable, I think.

So I rummaged around in my material and found some thin cotton that I liked and sewed up a pair of pants. I had shorts in my mind when I cut them out, but I made them too long and couldn't bear to cut that much material off. And now they're short enough they look like they're cropped a tad. *lol* I call them his curry pants, but others in the family have seen fit to dub them "Aladdin Pants." Ha hah.

Alas, I have no pics of him with them on. If I can get him to cooperate I will share.

• Sunday, August 24, 2008 - Brand New Baby

Posted in Family Fun
Here's the newest addition to the family. He was born at 3:30 am by section after a lot of hard
work by Momma. He weighed 9lbs 9 oz, so it would have been something to get him pushed out!
Isn't he so sweet? Here's Momma and Baby, the little guy just about 8 hours in this world.
(And already deep in the System. But I'll be good and keep my mouth shut about that.)

Here's our family with the new nephew/cousin.

Looks just like his daddy!!

Uncle, pleased as punch apparently.

And here's the Marmee. She does such a great job taking care of all her "mommas and babies."
She's had three grandchildren born in just over a year! What would we have done without her?

The bounty of the summer has been in full swing. The weekend after the party we went and
gleaned apple drops from a friend and also some asian pears and peaches.

We sauced about 2 1/2 gallons of applesauce and made butter (in the crock pot!) with half of it.
Whew! It took a long time. I also made 7 half pints of peach jam and worked on freezing green beans and
then canned a gallon of applesauce. All in all a tiring and profitable weekend.

• Saturday, August 16, 2008 - Birthday Boy

Posted in Family Fun
Yesterday, August 15th, our Little Man turned a year old! As is typical with me, I bit off more than I could chew and planned to bake a cake from scratch and decorate it too. I really enjoy the opportunity to do fun things like that, but I never really take into account all that it entails.

Anyway, here's how the cake turned out. I wanted a design that didn't have to be too precise, kind of sketchy looking.

I actually got the inspiration from this very cute Etsy link.

He had a grand time opening his gifts and playing with them.

Funny face friend.

Friend and cousin playtime.

Time for cake.

Lots of fun.
