IN THE POTTER'S HAND

• Friday, April 6, 2007 - happenings

Today was such a blessing to me. Philip was off on a job that didn't allow him to come in for dinner. That meant I had the whole day to do as i wanted. I usually am here all morning so that I can have dinner on the table at noon.

A friend called to meet her in town for dinner. We haven't had a chance to get togather for sometime. It was great to catch up on each others lives.

Then at noon I meet another friend. we were heading to the Baptist church here in west for a Good Friday service. It was based on the last 7 sayings of Christ. This is the second time I have attended this. 7 preachers, from 7 different churches. It was wonderful! After this ended we were treated to a bbq lunch.

I am so thankful how far we have come in our society. The Baptist church that hosted this service, is a Africian-American church. I can remember a time, and im 43 years old. That this was unheard of. Wow!  how the barriers have come down. It is awesome how God has worked in this area, in our community. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. I'm so glad that the people in our town see this. Im looking forward to attending again next year.

After the service I headed to the grocery store. I still needed to get some food for our Sunday meal here. I decided on a full meal. It would be so much simplier to throw a frozen item in the oven, like lasagna. It would serve the purpose. I just think that for me, it just sends a message to my guest that I love to cook and bake. Everyone one of the ladies in our family work outside the home. I just want to provide them with a home cooked meal that they didn't have to prepare. I hope they will have a good time just coming in to relax and enjoy themselves. I decided on baked ham, whipped pototoes, broc/cheese/rice cassorole, red beans, and pies.

well im off to bed. It has been a long and wonderful day. I'm so blessed to have this life. I hope to share with you more of what it means to me to get to be a homekeeper. I like that word. I have been reading many blogs about this. It has inspired me to really step up and follow the plan that God had for me in store.

• Friday, April 6, 2007 - here we go

Well here I go! This is something that I have been wanting to do for sometime. I believe that i'm a truly blessed women. The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful family. A good hard working husband,4 sons, and also blessed with a niece to raise and call our own also. Now she is married and has blessed us with 4 wonderful children  that we consider our grandchildren. Her husband has 3 children from his first marriage. 2 boys and a girl. They have one child together Erikka.

I don't know if it just a lifestyle that I enjoy or this is my calling from God. I truely have a passion to do His work right here from the home. I strive to be a proverbs 31 women. Living my life as a Titus women. I find my happiest days are right here doing the Lord's work through this home. With so many people to feed. I'm in the kitchen more then any other room, it seems. To some it may not be a big deal and for years it was not for me either. I know that this must be the place God has called me to do His work, because im so content, and full of joy doing them. I heard our preacher say that when you are in the will of God you will find happiness, contentment, and joy. Well then this must be His will. I find those things and many others here in my home.

Spring is here. Well in Texas, we never know for sure one day im sitting here with the windows open listening to birds singing, and dogs barking. The next day i'm wearing a jacket again.

i have to say that spring is my favorite time of year. I'm not a cold season person. Snow is something that i want to see in someone else's state. I don't get uncomfortable until it hits about 100 degree's.

I am looking forward to this season. I plan on doing a little  canning this summer. That means i need to get some things done around here first. I have so many jars that i need to go through to see what i need and don't need.  I have done this some years back this canning. But you know sometimes we forget what the Lord has called us to do and go off the path sometimes. I believe that i have done this. I know about 5 years ago He called me to be a homemaker. When i needed to know all that would involve. God would guide me in all the choices that I made. I don't believe every homemaker has the same calling in how they live. Some don't can, some don't even have a garden. There are things that are meant for some and not others. I believe that what ever is needed in our lives at that time or season is what God will guide us in doing. Now that our sons are growning and moving out and on their own. It seems an odd time for me to want to do some of these things. I know that there is a reason and since im so happy doing them I know there His will for them to happen.

I won't have a garden here in my yard this year. I have tryed this before. The water rates here are so high it is not worth it. But i found a couple that  lives not far from here that does have a wonderful garden every year. They have a well to do all the watering. I have called her to be on her list of customers this summer. So i will acually have the fresh vegetables with out all the work. Sounds like a good deal to me!

Well that is all for now. I usually don't have time to read those really long blogs so i will try to keep mine short.  I also noticed that there isn't a spell checker, that isn't good!  I'll have to be careful.
