Got chicks!!!

And have some questions.  The hen was sitting on 11 eggs.  This morning there were 2 chicks poking out from the front of their mom.  The hen is still sitting on the other eggs.  Will she continue to sit on them until they all hatch?  How will she feed the 2 that are out?  How will she get them out of the nesting box?  I'll help get them down if needed.  But, will the 2 chicks that are hatched first need to eat before the others are hatched?

I thought they would all hatch the same time.

Aren't they just adorable???  Well, you can only see one actually-the other one is just showing it's behind.  We are so excited.  My oldest dd went to collect the eggs and came running back to the house yelling that the chicks hatched.  This is our first time having this happen.  What an amazing miracle!

First question... did she lay all the eggs herself that she was setting on? And did you happen to mark them with the dates that they were layed? The babies should be fine without their mama for short periods... but soon she will start taking them out with her... Do you have her seperated from the rest of the chickens? Whenever, I have a broody chicken I seperate her from the other adults that way I don't worry about it as much... 11 eggs by one hen would mean that their laying dates are going to be 11 days difference between first and last chicks hatching so you probably won't have all of them hatch... sorry. Also, it is nice to mark the eggs with the date so that you know when they should be hatching... it takes approx 21 days to hatch...Good luck...
