Write To Politicians In Washington

Posted on Wednesday 20 June 2007 at 3:13 PM in Politics - 1 Comments - Post Comment - Link

Ya know if you ever want to get in touch with your elected representatives in Washington DC...or your own state, a great place to start is http://www.congress.org/.  Simply type in your zip code and it'll pull up your reps.  Click on FEDERAL or STATE...or you can select an individual from the list.  It's really easy to fire off a single letter (or many letters!  LOL) to all your reps when you want your voice to be heard.  It's a really cool website.  Check it out, I bet they'd love to hear from you.

Booing Miss USA

I didn't watch it...but after hearing about it my bloodpressure went through the ceiling.  The Mexicans weren't booing Miss USA because she fell.  That wasn't the only booing incident.  They were booing the USA.  Kinda funny...they boo the USA yet they flood illegally across our borders to earn our money.  Very telling and very sad.

BTW...I'm a second generation American.

A political quote for today...

"I'm way too conservative to be a Republican."  Me

I'm sure others have said it too.  I stopped being a registered Republican 4 years ago.  I decided that the only "party" that matters is God's party.  I won't even join a "denomination" for any church.  It seems to me that politicians...and pastors...are only interested in playing the game.  I'm tired of the game of "politics".  I know there are exceptions...but the exceptions are way too few and far between.

I think hubby just jumped on my bandwagon last night after hearing about that so called illegal immigration bill.

I wonder how many people feel as I do.  I so long for Jesus to come quickly.

Presidential Nausea

Posted on Monday 12 March 2007 at 4:31 PM in Politics - 2 Comments - Post Comment - Link

I don't normally blog about politics...but this is a real bee in my bonnet right now.  This potential slim pickins in the presidential campaign really leaves me with a sour taste in my stomach.

The Republican party has been disappointment to conservatives like me...which is why I don't have a party affiliation anymore.  I don't vote for any pro-choice candidate no matter how conservative they portray themselves.  I also don't vote for any one who doesn't believe that marriage should only be between one man and one woman.  But the thought of having Bill/Hillary Clinton round two or Obama in the White House really scares me.  So if your only viable candidates are a pro-choice republican and "Billary", what do you do?  Our strong two party system makes it virtually impossible for a third party candidate to be viable.  So do you stand your ground and vote for a third party candidate you know will never be elected knowing that your vote could help someone like "Billary" get elected?  Or do you vote for the strongest candidate even if they aren't truly concervative to keep the likes of "Billary" out of office?  I really hope things change drastically between now and then...like a very strong conservative candidate...or Jesus calling us home.  Ok...back to your regularly scheduled home-keeping blog.

Ummmm....Global Warming

Posted on Wednesday 28 February 2007 at 1:11 PM in Politics - 1 Comments - Post Comment - Link

This is all over the news.

We use flourescent light bulbs.  We are careful how much electricty we use.  We don't drive any more than we have to, and we like to walk or ride bikes when the weather is accomodating.  We use rain water and gray water to water our garden.  We dry our clothes on the lines outside when the weather is accomodating.  Am I worried about global warming?

My clothes line last spring.

Um....no.  Not in the least.  The things our family does are not because of global warming, but because we are being frugal to ensure I'm able to stay home...where we believe God wants me.  Anyway...if God is in control of everything, why should I worry?  Ok...well I worry about a lot of things anyway ...but global warming isn't one of them.

Yes, it is important to be a good steward of God's creations.  I heard this said, I don't remember who or where I heard it but it was so spot on...these environmentalists...who don't trust in God...are more passionate about their cause than many Christians are about their God and faith.  In the end, heaven and earth will pass away.  As Christians we should be more concerned about seeing family and friends in heaven than worrying about man-made global warming.  We should still be good stewards of the resources God has provided for us...for His glory...but it shouldn't be more important than God.

Lastly...something that has annoyed me for quite a while...why should I trust these atmospheric scientists, climatologists, meteorologist, and environmentalists on global warming when the weathermen can't even get the weather right for the next day or week?

Genesis 1:28
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

2 Peter 3:7-13
But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.  But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.  Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?  Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Bill Maher on Leno

Posted on Wednesday 21 February 2007 at 11:49 AM in Politics - 0 Comments - Post Comment - Link

I don't watch these programs, but I read this morning about what Maher said on Leno last night.  I personally don't care what Maher has to say but I was very angry at what he said about President Bush...encouraged by Leno.  I'm REALLY tired of people who make their living in front of a camera attacking and ridiculing those in authority.  It doesn't matter whether you like them or not...it's just wrong!

I work hard to teach my son manners and respect for those who are in authority.  I work hard to teach him that no matter whether you like someone or not, it's NOT appropriate to call someone names or purposely insult them.  I can't tell you how my blood pressue boils when news programs/entertainment programs and what not continuously insult and degrade people...especially those who are in authority over our country.  Why isn't anyone offended?  And we wonder why our schools are full of kids who have no respect for their teachers or even their parents?    One of the many reasons, huh?

If it wasn't for the fact that we use our TV for education programming/DVD's...I wouldn't even bother having one.  Most of the programing on the networks doesn't do anything but promote disrespect, encourage rebellion and raise my blood pressure.

The Military Needs Protection?????

This was posted on Joanne Jacobs 's blog (http://joannejacobs.com/) about canceling a job fair at the University of California at Santa Cruz because they were worried about the safety of military recruiters.  The article is here: http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/local/states/california/northern_california/16427040.htm .  I understand why they did it, but it just struck me a bit funny that they would be worrying about the safety of military recruiters...after all...um...they are the military.  If they really needed protection against activists, I seriously doubt they would rely on the school.  lol
