Insurance

I've spent a good part of this morning reading over Honey's new insurance....Home Depot has changed providers, so it's all new this year.

We have 10 days to decide what levels of insurance to take...

A few co-workers of his have asked why I am not on his medical insurance...one word...cost! For the highest deductible, his medical (not including dental and vision, which I am on), will be $64.00 per pay period, which is every two weeks. To add me with the same levels, it would be $201!  The difference of $137 is more than our weekly grocery budget.

As we found last year with my Gentle accident, medical costs are unbelievable. But, the additional yearly cost of over $3500 is just too much for our budget to bear...

However, I did find that life insurance for both of us is pretty reasonable. That is a good feeling....we will be taking some out this year. Honey has some already, we'll be adding more on him and some on me as well. This will be a relief...for if something were to happen, this would allow us to remain homeschooling. I am happy to see reasonable rates on this insurance.

Anywho....I'm wading through it...page at a time....

Insurance, Insurance. Before my honey was fulltime military we only had insurance on the kids, as it was just too expensive for the whole family. Now we are fulltime military and we have great insurance through tricare. We are so thankful.
Blessings,
Trixi

We are blessed with wonderful insurance from hubby's work. They take out the same amount per pay period whether there is one person or ten on the insurance!!! I think we pay $47.00 per pay period (every 2 weeks), but it covers all three of us. Well worth it.

I did find out a few years ago, when I broke my arm, that the bills certainly can build up!! It was over $3000 for the ER, the xrays, doctor, specialist, and then to have it cut off. That was before hubby's wonderful insurance! UGH!

God's Blessings,
Amy Jo

Insurance is a must have I believe. Just one hospital stay could break you. My husband is self employed so our insurance cost are outrageous. We pay for just me and him almost $800 a month...I know that sounds like a lot but it's one of those things that when you need it it's great to have. Recently my husband was hospitalized for 4 days, our copayment was $300 per day so we had to pay $1200 for his stay, but his bill was in the $80K range and we were greatful for the insurance. We certainly didn't want to be stuck with a medical bill all of our life or end up loosing everything we have to pay that bill. It's kind of the same with car insurance, we have high coverage because anymore everytime there is an accident someone sues someone. We have never had any accidents but you just never know. We own all of our cars but still carry high coverage! If one of us just had one accident they could sue you for everything you own...Anyway just my two cents worth...but to me insurance is a must have..and for people who can get it as cheap as you can you should be thankful..
Blessings,Joann

In order to have me on Mike's insurance it would raise his rate from $130 every pay period to $320 every pay. That's $640 a month, $7600 a year! Insane! So, like you, I will not be on my hubby's insurance.
