If the canning recipe calls for 5 quarts of tomatoes how do I know how many pounds that would be? I'm fairly new to this canning thing & am making tomato soup to can for the first time this year.

What is this? Is this the same as Sea Salt?
I was looking for a salsa recipe & found a good one but it calls for canning salt. Now I've been cooking/baking for a good many years and have not heard of this before. Maybe if I knew how to can I would have heard of this.

Where do I begin? Can you suggest websites, books, etc.
We have many Amish around these parts that sell fresh berries in the summer months. So I'll probably be making a lot of jams.
But I also have tomato plants growing that I could can if I knew how.
What do I need to get started other than canning jars?
