A fun weekend

DH and I had a very fun playful weekend.  I dont think we quite got the camping out of our blood this summer.   On Friday DH had to get some blood  drawn so he took the day off.. when he got home we headed up to some of the mountain lakes close by checking out camp grounds. 

That night when we got home he said to me.."you know what? we didnt make somemores while we were at the rendezvous"   want to go out and build a fire and make some... well being we are in extreme fire danger season I didnt think the neighbors or fire dept would appreciate that... so I drug one of our  camp lanterns out (beeswax candle) and we toasted the marshmellows on that and made somemores right in our living room as we watched the olympics.... Dd just shook her head at us  lol

On saturday morning I started cleaning up the house some since I thought our travels were over, but DH wanted to go in the opposite direction, to check out camp grounds.   Instead of going towards the lakes we headed up into the mountain where the rogue river comes thru, Its truly beautiful (about 25 miles from crater lake)  anyway we went thru a number of camp grounds and found two that I think will work for us.   Dh LOVES to fish and both of these campgrounds have spaces that butt right up along the river, and  they stock those areas on a weekly basis.    Once DH saw the sign he said this is the one... I teased him all the way home that  the campground could be out in the middle of a big old hot field and he would still want to go there...lol   Did I mention he snuck his  fishing pole in?  so after we visited the last camp ground there was one more I wanted to visit, which we did... it was not for us... but going back out we crossed this bridge and the river running under it was beautiful,  we stopped.   DH decided to throw a line in...about the time he declared there was no fish in this stretch of the river he caught 3 in rapid succession.   I told him he needed to catch at least 1 more to make a proper dinner  lol  it took an hour or so but he finally did.    Dinner that night was pan fried trout, fresh corn on the cob and cantaloupe  yummy.

We are planning to head for the hills/river  weekend after next...  DH is going to take  2 days off so we will be up there about 4 days.. ought to give him a good fishing fix before winter sets in:>  We are planning on taking some of our  camp dutch ovens and playing with them over the weekend too.  I hope we are able to get one of the sites that is right on the river so  we dont have to drive around looking for places to fish.  Should be a fairly cheap get away...  the camp ground  for 4 days will be   24 dollars, gas 10-15, 4 days  spent playing in Gods country , priceless.
