Saturday, May 24, 2008 Homeschool Senior 2008 Giveaway!
A couple weeks ago, Jocelyn blogged about her Homeschool Boutique Proud Homeschool tshirt that the Homeschool Boutique had given her. She was so happy and blessed to receive it!
Homeschool Boutique has so many neat and pretty cool homeschool items to choose from.
They have:
Well, a few weeks after Jocelyn blogged about them, I got an email asking if I would like to receive a Homeschool Senior 08 shirt! My first thought was: “Would I like to receive one?? OF COURSE!” I was so excited, I walked out to the living room and told Mom! I just thought it was so awesome that I would be offered one. So of course, I replied back saying I would love one.
Then a few days later, I got a comment from Mrs. Hill, who owns and runs Homeschool Boutique asking if I wanted to host a giveaway for Homeschool Seniors. She had seen that I run the Homeschool Seniors Class of 2008 blog, which by the way is run really badly, but is looking up to getting back in business.
The really awesome news is that I have a chance for 5 Homeschool Seniors of 2008 to win a shirt too! Homeschool Boutique has donated FIVE of the below shirts for this giveaway! How awesome, huh?

Thursday, August 23, 2007 Announcing the Winners of the 2007 "Tribute To My Dad" Contest
Wednesday, August 15, 2007 A Tribute To My Dad
Today is the last day for the "A Tribute to My Dad" contest. We will be excepting entries til 12am EST tonite. Get me those entries.
Look at this really neat banner Eric made for the contest. You can put it on your blog and your Tribute. Here is the code, make sure to take out all the spaces:
< img src =" http:// www.ericnovak.com /dadcontest.jpg "/>
Before I get to my Tribute, I would like to take a minute to tell you all something.
I just want everyone to know that my dad read my post. He read it for a long time. He thought over it and said that he was sorry I felt that way, but it was how I feel and he would try to change it. He approved it and said I could post it. I would not have posted it without my parents reading it. As a matter of fact, all my posts run by What A Girl WantsMom.
Before I posted that, I prayed about it. I wasn't sure if I was suppose to post it, because it was so personal. But I felt God telling me to post it and so I did.
And just so everyone knows, I am soo thankful I posted that. I now know why God wanted me to. My dad was on vacation. This has to have been one of the very best vacations that we have had. We didn't do anything special. We just spent most of the time here at home, and it was so wonderful. I believe that is why God told me to post it. Our relationship is getting better. He has been trying to relate to me and what I think. There is no way I would have been able to tell him all those things. But by writing them and having him read them, it came across as it should have.
I know that most of you thought that I was being harsh, but that post WAS NOT about my dad. It was about me. It was about what I feel I need as a daughter.
I LOVE my dad so very much and want to respect him as I should. If there was anything wrong in that post, I would not have posted it.
I was typing this post up and I was trying to figure out what else to put in this to make it a tribute. So I asked myself: "WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF A TRIBUTE?"
Webster's Dictionary of 1828 says a Tribute is "1. A personal contribution; as a tribute of respect. 2. Something given or contributed."
So a tribute is a personal something of respect for someone. Yep, that is what this contest is about. A personal post of respect for your dad. How often do we get the opportunity to gloat on our parents?? Not too much, right?? Well here is your chance to show your dad how much he means to you and how much you love him.
Here is my "Tribute to My Dad"...
I love the way my Dad will tell me what I need to know about life, growing spiritually, and lovingly correcting me when I need it. You don't find many dads that will take the time to tell you what you need to know. Many now would just let you do whatever you wanted.
I love the way my Dad will take the time to show me how to do things. He doesn't just tell me how, but shows me how. He takes the time to come with me and show me how to accomplish what I am working on.
I love the way my Dad always make sure I am safe. When I go to the store, he makes sure to tell me to drive safely and be a defensive driver. Can't go over 50mph on country roads. I am a good driver, but he always makes sure to remind me of driving defensively. He is always watching out for me. I know that he would give his life for me.
I love the way my Dad can make me laugh by just saying something or smiling at me. I can be in an upset mood and he looks at me and smiles and I can't help but smile or laugh at him. He's so goofy sometimes.
I love the way my Dad will take the Littles outside and play ball with them. Its nice when we have been with them all day and he comes home and takes them out to play and spends time with them.
I love the way I can ask my Dad something about the Bible and he can usually give me a reference and what I was asking gets answered. He has read through all the Bible and can usually answer my questions about it.
I love the way my Dad works so hard to make sure I have everything I need. He works two jobs to provide for us. I don't get to see him alot because he works sun-up to sun-down. That is part of the reason why we aren't very close, I don't see him alot, because he is working.
I love the way my Dad will help me with the horses and getting them hay and feed. He mows the grass so they can eat it, rakes it up and gives it to them. He has helped me with building their stalls, catching them when they got out, building their new fence, and much more.
I love the way my Dad lets me get on the computer, because he knows its important to me. He wants me to be able to blog, IM friends, and learn new things.
I love the way my Dad wants me to be happy. He wants me to be happy with my family and life. He has been trying so hard to make things right around here. He is trying to make our family what it should be.
I love the way my Dad shares about him growing up. He grew up in New Mexico, (which is in the US, btw) and he lived at his grandmother's house for most of his life. He shares about how he used to be able to go get grapes off the vine, or pecans off the tree. He loved to go get peaches off the trees too. He likes to tell us about all the neat trips or things he did. It's fun to hear about him growing up, because its my heritage too.
Thank you, Dad, for being my dad and for all the things you are and do for me!!
I LOVE YOU DAD!!
I have seen MANY great entries, and I know its gonna be hard to choose only 10. GREAT job everyone!!
Mine was not eloquent, or something well worded, but it was heartfelt and loving. Don't think you can't do this contest, because you can't write well. Its about your Dad and how special he is. That is what we are looking for!!
I hope you all are able to get your submissions in. This is a great way to honor your dad and you get a prize for it. Not that you should do it for the prize, its just an added bonus. ;0)
Here is a cool widget. Please put your contest link in this linky too. Make sure to leave Paulie and I a comment.
Here are some of those who are participating:
As Always,
