A link for the goat shelter.
I hope that others will be able to use this shelter.
I thought that it was pretty cool and cheap.

Predators and chickens
The Chicken killing we had experienced stopped awhile back and I thought the killer had moved on... but yesterday it was back, it got the little pullet that was always getting out...and that met me at the feed bucket to let her back in:< But she was NOT out when it got her... and now I know what it is .......a CAT! A regular everday housecat kind... I never thought a cat would kill chickens... There was brush back around the back side of the run and I had let it grow up to give the chickens some shade... but its gone now... I found where the cat was getting in, well I know it got out there anyway.. so its all closed up.. It must have been hungry because the only thing we found was feathers and the breast bone... We also found broken egg shells, I think she must have been laying under that tree back there.
DH shot at it and it ran out the back and around to the neighbors.. we will be watching for it...
DH went deer hunting early this morning, so I will have most of the day to myself...
I really need to work at getting the walls pushed back up.. It seems during the week when I get home the mess so overwhelms me I dont get anything done...and then on the weekend I just want to rest... We have been sick so the mess is even a bit more daunting then usual.
I am also dealing with anxiety attacks again..which drains me of most energy I might have left... I guess I need to make an appointment with the doc and see if there is anything we can do... I can't seem to tolerate most anti depressant that they like to use for anxiety.
well off to work...
Todays list:
Kitchen , and laundry.
I need to make some kind of soup as well, for lunches during the week
Why is it wrong?
I have found a few people that feel its wrong to stock up on things like food, medication, water etc...in the event of a total economic collapse..Not sure I understand why it would be wrong? The bible says to not store up our treaures in heaven, I think this means material posessions. We are not to worry about what we will eat and drink. This does not say not to be smart and stock things you and your family may need. There was a little joke going around at one time about a man who was in a flood and he was on the roof of his house and man in a life boat came by and tried to help him and them a helicopter tried .....both times the man said he was waiting on the Lord.....the man dies and goes to heaven and then ask God, 'why didn't you help me'? God reponds by saying, I sent you a boat and helicopter...this is not exact but you get the point...God will help those who help themselves...We are not stocking up because we do not trust God, we doing this because God says to trust him and he told me years ago to be prepared, took me a while to figure out what He meant but He clearly showed me to take care of my family and others if need be...He has continued to provide land and other things we need ion ways I would have never imagined.....Are those out there like me untrusting? Nope, we are wise and making sure our families are ok and many of us are thinking of others...I have made it clear to people in my life that if a the time comes they need help, I am here, I have land to give them a place to go and I will have food for them...this is not selfish...and we are not scared, just following the Lord...I am one that thinks ahead...if I do all of these things and nothing happens...so be it....but if it does...I am prepared...Now is the time.

The Economic Situation. How its destroying humans.
I am watching this economic situation destroy a human being.
What does God have to say about this???
Matthew 6:19-21
19 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
I know this, you know this, but I know people who don't know this, and are not approachable to hear this.........it's horrifying.
A month ago this person was smiling, laughing, enjoying what he does (job wise), enjoying life........good mood most of the time......
Today, and for the last 2-3 weeks.........he is surly. He is overwhelmed with anger. He uses foul language, directed towards us. He is not friendly, he is overwhelmed with anger.....and everyone notices. No one wants to talk to him, no one want to work for him anymore........The life has been sucked out of him.
Why?
The huge hit in the stock market.
The huge hit to the economy.
The huge hit to his business.
And it all has to do with money...........
Don't get me wrong. I lost money too. I have 529's for the kids.
I have IRA's for my dh and I. He has a 401k.............
But you know what?
It's just money. What am I going to do?
My kids know the Lord, I know the Lord....if He comes tomorrow, we will be with him for eternity. That's really all that matters.
Really.
These things must come to pass.
Matthew 23 tells us what NOT to do!
Matthew 24 tells us WHAT to expect!
Matthew 25 tells us WHO is going with Him, and who is not!
Pray for those who are lost in the money.
They are real people, really hurting.
Plenty of firewood!
We have been blessed.... We had a good supply of wood going for this year. Weren't really sure if it'd last all season but most of it anyway. 90% of it we got for free, just for clearing out the dead trees from a friend's lot. That person is now going to be completely clearing an area for a garage on their property, so not only does DH get the clearing job, but he gets to keep all of that wood too! Most of it will be green but that will lay in next year's supply! So, assuming we're still here, I am looking at the next two winters of not having to spend a dime on propane for heat!! The only other thing we use gas for is hot water, which barely makes a dent in the tank on its own.
God is so cool.

Can Gifts Be a Snare?
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 3:14
A story is told of a Greek who had spent many years working in a foreign country. Before he returned home, he used all his fortune to purchase a diamond. He was traveling home by ship to spend his last years with his family. After some time of rest in his room, he decided to go up on deck to see what was happening. He discovered interesting games taking place. He felt he could also put on a show. Quickly he decided to get his diamond. He started throwing this gem up into the air. He was a talented juggler, and he would catch the diamond just before it hit the deck. The onlookers cheered. He did this several times and successfully had it land into his hands. But the game ended poorly. For some unknown reason, the sea waves drew the ship slightly off course. He vainly struggled to catch the diamond, but down into the sea it disappeared. What a sorrowful man he was!
What caused this man to act this way? Today’s Scripture passage tells of a mortal standing in the place meant for God alone, and there is an inner urge in each of us to impress others. Thoughts and actions arising from self glorify the creature rather than the Creator. Often I have caught myself in this kind of snare: trying to show the best of myself in the way I say or do things. Only God deserves honor and glory for what I am. I have since surrendered to God all He has given to me. I have asked Jesus’ blood to cleanse me of this impurity. I have fully made up my mind not to allow any gift to honor myself but God alone.

The cool night air
Tonight as I sat here working on the blanket that I am making for my nephew, I was again amazed by the weather that we've been having. It is pleasant during the day, it was up to 83, I believe inside the house, but when you went outside the breeze was cooling.
We opened all of the windows in the boys room, even though they have popped out the one screen. I will have to get some more of the stuff that holds the screen in place tomorrow.
The crickets are making their music again tonight as were the coyotes. Tonight they did seem to be a little bit closer, it also sounded as though it was coming from a different direction. But they have stopped or moved on for now, I might hear them again during the night.
I saw on another blog a great little shelter for goats, that I am probably going to make for our two girls. We have Boer goats that are probably more like pets than farm animals. But they are currently on leads and BBQ got herself tangled the other day, making her foot swell up. But she is much better now, however it really makes me want to move them into a fenced area where they can both run and play. So I am going to get more T posts and some fence, might also run hot fence to make sure they don't get out. I think that they would both enjoy being able to run around and bonk heads.
I might also try this shelter once we have a milk cow. Just depends on how tall she is.
I tried to take some pictures of the children outside tonight as the sun was setting, but my little digital just couldn't handle the distance shots, everything was coming up blurry or just terrible. I am going to look for a nice SLR digital, I've got a great 35mm. Which I might bless my sister with. She is really into photography and has a great eye. Not sure that she would want it though, as just like me she would probably rather have a digital. We are all spoiled with instant photos. Off to ebay to see what it out there.

Attention Seniors ~ Class of '09

Jalapeno's
Benny made his famous "Hotter than Hades" sauce this week....the recipe includes habanero and jalapeno peppers...Of course he uses every bowl in the house, the VitaMixer, and of course there is the cooking...now the tasting is something else, "taste this and see what you think".......I tasted it and immediately the fire began to start on my tongue and smoke came out my ears, I could hardly speak..."hot....hot.....hot.....WATER QUICK"..so he settled for that batch. We still had a bucket of jalapeno peppers left, so he reminded me we needed to do something with the peppers..I had to go to work, so I told him to make a T with a knife in each pepper, put them in a pot, add water, and bring to a boil, let them cook till they lost the green gloss on the peppers and shut off the stove. I walked into the house to the smell of hot peppers...I almost needed a gas mask....the smell was overpowering, my eyes were burning, but I managed to drain them and let them cool. I would start the deseeding in the morning, so that was my job today. The peppers are all deseeded, and they are stuffed with cheddar/colby cheese. I put them on a cookie sheet and froze them...tomorrow I will put them into bags to keep frozen till we grill them...I will then wrap a slice of bacon around each one before they go on the grill....wait for them to cook, and the feast will begin. Next will be Jalapeno Macaroni Salad...this is another one of our favorites...
JALAPENO MACARONI SALAD
12 oz. medium size macaroni shells or elbows,
cooked and drained
Fresh green onions --I use about 3 or 4
I also add a little sweet white onion to this,
4 jalapeno peppers (deseeded) and diced fine
I use more because we like ours hot to the taste
salt and pepper to taste
garlic powder to taste (just a dash )
1 pint Real Mayonnaise--make it good and moist
Dice onions fine (I cut mine with the scissors)
or chop onions and peppers till fine in a food processor.
You want these in small pieces, not liquid.
Mix all together and chill overnight. So good !
And there are still some peppers left, so they will be used for breakfast, scrambled eggs, cheese, jalapenos, bacon and rolled in a warm flour tortilla.
You can also make Armadillo Eggs....a good recipe also..
Armadillo Eggs
1/2 pound grated Monterey Jack Cheese
(Strips of Cheddar cheese as well to stuff with)
1/2 pound bulk Hot Sausage (Owens)
1 1/2 cups buttermilk biscuit mix (Bisquick)
15 medium canned Jalapeno Peppers (or do your own)
Shake and Bake for Pork
2 beaten eggs
Slit and deseed the peppers. Mix together the cheese and sausage. To this, add the biscuit mix. (It is easier to divide the biscuit mix into three parts, adding each part separately, as the dough becomes very thick and stiff, and will require some kneading). The cheese and sausage will hold the dough together.Set aside. Now, stuff each pepper with a piece of cheese and pinch the pepper closed around the cheese.Pinch off some of the sausage/cheese mixture and pat it into a flat little pancake. Put the stuffed pepper in the middle of the dough and wrap it completely with the dough, seal the edges.Roll the dough covered pepper back and forth in your hands and mold it into an egg shape. Roll the pepper in Shake and Bake for Pork, coat it good, then dip it in the beaten eggs and put in back in the Shake and Bake mixture. Bake the "eggs" in a 300-325 degree oven for about 25 minutes. You can also freeze these till you are ready to bake them.
We never tire of Jalapeno Peppers......
