Thank God I'm a Country Boy...

It is SO very hot today.  It's already in the mid-80s and it's only 9:45am.  Who knows how high the mercury will climb by this afternoon.  The boys are here from Pittsburgh, so we're all going to a local amusement park to play miniature golf and the boys will ride some rides.  I can't believe that when I met the boys they were 3 and 5.  Now they're 7 and 9!!  I feel so old!  hahaha!  It was so nice last night, Logan snuggled with me while he watched TV before bed and Theo snugggled with T.  Made me feel like a good uncle!  :)  Well, I bet I lose 10lbs of water weight today in the heat.  I guess I shouldn't complain!

Blessings,
Jason

I seem to have strayed from my diet... not writing in my Diet Journal and not walking because of my sprained foot.  Darnit!  I went to Barnes & Noble today with my sister and I bought a Diet/Exercise Journal that I hope I faithfully use.  They say that people who write down everything they consume lose more weight than those who don't.  I've also become a vegetarian.  It's day 7 and I've had no cravings for meat.  I haven't had red meat since I was a child, but I did eat chicken and fish.  So it shouldn't be that hard to stick to my new diet.  Well, that's all for now.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings,
Jason

I'm asuming my foot isn't broken.  Becuase besides the first half hour when I first wake up, I seem to be able to walk almost normally.  Today my father got off work early for some reason.  So, I made it a point to go over and visit with him after I was done visiting my grandmother.  I helped him water the garden, which is thriving, finally.  I planted some cauliflower last week and it's starting to grow now.  My tomatoes here at my house were dry as a bone this afternoon, and the bottom leaves were turning yellow, so I gave them a good drink.  I can't wait to get some 'maters and give them away to family & friends.  Well, that was my uneventful day.  I'll update more tomorrow.

Blessings,
Jason

I think my foot is feeling slightly better today.  I kept it elevated for awhile, and I made sure I took 800mg of Motrin every 4 hours.  Well, I have some sad news.  My turkey (well, the neighbor's turkey that has been hanging out at my parent's farmhouse for months) well, Turkey got killed today.  She was sitting on her nest in the hay field and a tractor that was cutting the hay chopped her up.  :(  So it was a sad day on the "homestead".  See, my father and I were up at the garden and I noticed alot of feathers about twenty feet up in the field.  He walked up and gave me the sad news.  But, the eggs that she was sitting on all survived, all 10 of them.  Well, my father got this idea that he would put a few of the eggs in the nest in our chicken coop.  I'm not sure if the chickens will sit on the turkey eggs or not?  I guess we'll see...

Blessings,
Jason

What a day today was.  I sprained my foot.  It's absolutely killing me!  I'm in so much pain.  Wendy told me to take Motrin and prop it up and maybe even soak it in Epsom salts.  I looked like a cripple walking into the drug store to buy my motirin.  People were staring at me, but I couldn't help but limp.  Today was my cousin's wedding and I made it thru the wedding itself, but I couldn't stand the pain at the reception... So I had to leave after about 10 mintues.  I feel like a wimp but this thing really hurts!!!  I wonder if I broke it??

Blessings.

Well, I weighed myself a bit early because I was worried that I gained weight.  I actually lost three pounds!  So now I'm back to where I was because I had previously gained that much.  It feels so good to lose weight, I must say.  I had my doctor's appointment in State College, PA yesterday.  My sister went along with me so I didn't have to go alone.  I hate driving up there, but since it's a college town, and summer's here, there were alot less people walking around, so that was a good thing.  My doctor put me on another medication.  *Sigh*  Just what I needed.  After my appointment, my sister was absolutely starving (and so was I) so we stopped at a nice restaurant called the Prospector's.  We went all out, appetizers, entre, and dessert.  I did this because ever since my sister had her baby, we've had very little time when we could just hang out JUST us.  So, it was very nice.  We taked and laughed like the good ole' days.  Not that since Lilly was born that things haven't been nice, but you know what I mean.  Well, that's about it for today...

Jason

Well, I gained exactly three pounds this week.  I'm not complaining at all because I totally strayed from my healthy dieting and returned to late night eating and fast food.  Ehhh...  But, I would like to say that I'm not giving up and that I wll certainly continue on.  I need to go to the grocery store ASAP and get more healhy foods and I need to start walking again. The weather forecast looks absolutely wonderful, so I have no excuse to not get outside.  Last night was the cottage party at Raystown Lake.  We all had a great time.  I was the first to leave, of course, but that's usual.  Everyone was saying how frail my grandmother looked, and it really got me down.  I don't want to hear stuff like that at all.  I mean, she's my grandnother for goodness sake.

Blessings,
Jason

Boy did we have a storm last evening.  T and I were on our way to Raystown Lake to have dinner at my family's cottage.  There were tree branches being blown across the road, we had to dodge them as we were driving.  The local news reported several trees blew down in my town of Hollidaysburg.  Thankfully, I remembered to move my tomato plants under the overhang on my back deck because I was afraid it was going to hail on them, which would have probably killed the plants.  I had such a good time at the cottage.  My relatives from Virginia were there, too. Couldn't have asked for a better night!

Blessings,
Jason

Well, haven't written in a few days.  On Saturday, yesterday, my mother and I were involved in a car accident when a motorcycle crossed the center line and smashed head on into our car.  My mother was driving and there was no way we could avoid him.  He flew off the bike and smashed in the windsheild with his head.  He then flew off the hood and landed right outside the passenger door.  He was laying there moaning and crying.  My mother got out of the car and I called 911 right away.  It was my first time calling 911 and I didnt know what to say and I had a hard time describing where i was because I was so shaken up.  As soon as I hung up the phone I started bawling hystericaly.  I didn't know what to do with myself.  The poor man then stood up and asked for a cigarette.  So I assumed he wasn't in that bad of shape.  But, before I knew it, he had completley forgotten that he was even in an accident, so obviously his brain was injured.  The ambulance, fire trucks, and both local and state police came very quickly.  We had to stand there in the pouring rain for over an hour until the car was towed and we answered all the policeman's questions.  What a day.  I'm just thankful that my mother and i were fine, no bumps, no bruises, and no scratches.  Just shaken up is all.  And, I'm also thankful that the man that hit us wasn't more seriously injured.

Gotta run,
Blessings,
Jason

UPDATE:  if you care to know, my tomato plants have survived!  I bought tomato cages at the hardware store across town for $1.49 each!  They really are supporting the plants perfectly, I had to bend them back into shape, and I'm optimistic that I'll have a high yield of Yellow Plum tomatos.  YIPPEE!

Blessings,
Jason

I had a wonderful Birthday yesterday!  I turned 24 at 4:13 am.  T took me up to Philipsburg, PA... a small town in Centre County.  We went to a Country Store/Antique Store.  It was so nice!  I ended up buying some crafts and a candle that smells like Snickerdoodles.  :)  Afterwards, we had dinner at a truck stop on I-80.  Great food there, too.  Then we made it up to Black Moshannon State Forest.  There we took a walk next to the swamp, it was so beautiful with all the water lillies and lilly pads.  There was like a boardwalk on the side that we walked on and about every twenty feet or so there was a sign that told about the swamp animals and birds, and the lillies and stuff.  I just wish I had brought my camera, this was an unexpected stop during our little road trip.  When we got home later that evening, Donna got me a house-plant.  I can't think of how to spell it, but it is a Bermiliad.  Then we went to Tera's house and she gave me $100 and a certificate for a night at the Bedford Springs Resort.  It's so pretty there.  Can't wait to stay now!  Well, gotta run!!

Blessings,
Jason

My parent's finished laying stone on the walls of the back porch.  I helped them as much as I could in the hot, hazy sunshine.  Thankfully I didn't get burned, but my mother did, as usual.  Later on, T and I had dinner there.  He got off work early because of the holiday.  Jess, Bobby, and Lilly were there for some of our visit, but Jess had to work 3rd shift, so they left around 9:30pm.  I was very disapointed in myself because yesterday I had cheese curls, and alot of of them, and I also had a piece of a stromboli for dinner.  That means I strayed from my diet which I've been on for three weeks now.  Well, to make a long story short, I ended up losing four pounds this week on diet alone.  I barely exercised at all!  Imagine if I'd stayed with the diet completley and exercised how much would I have lost?!  That's my goal for this week, to stick to it.  This is very important to me, and my health depends on it.

Blessings,
Jason

PS.  This means I've lost a total of 14 lbs in three weeks!  YIPPEE!!!

I'm feeling much better now, I was put on Antibiotics yesterday.  I can actually swallow, thank goodness.  I lost over 7lbs this week, mostly due to my sore throat.  I hope I don't gain it all back now that I can eat!  Turkey Lurkey (the turkey that hangs out at my parent's house) ripped up my onions yesterday.  Darn bird.  At least he let my tomato and pepper plants alone.  It's hot and humid out today, feels kinda nice.  I don't like the heat, but I shouldn't complain.  At least my garden will be florishing.  My birthday is next week, I still haven't decided were I want to go...

Blessings,
Jason

I've been sick since Thursday night.  It's gradually been getting worse, and no meds I"ve taken have helped.  I think I have strep throat or tonsilitus.  :(  I really, really hope it's strep throat, because i'm terrified of getting my tonsils out.

Blesings,

Jason

Today I planted my garden at my parent's house.  Well, within 5 minutes of planting the garden, the neighbor's pet turkey came over and started eating my pepper plants!  Ugh!  I was so mad!  I chased it out of the yard but I'm sure it'll be back.  I don't think a fence would work either, because a turkey can just hop over it. *sigh*  Maybe we'll be eating turkey on Sunday!

Blessings,
Jason

I planted my yellow plum tomatos in the wooden pots that I bought yesterday afternoon at a local bargain outlet.  They look wonderful.  I couldn't get any tomato cages though because they were all sold out at the hardware store. They did, however, say that they'd have another shipment in on Friday, so I'll make sure I get some then.  I still have to plant my peppers... that day will come soon. I also need to plant my onions, pole beans, tomatos, green peppers, hot peppers, and cucumbers at my parent's house.  I didn't have a good walking day today for some reason.  I didn't even put on my pedometer.  I hope tomorrow's a better day in that regard.

Blessings,
Jason

Today was a gorgeous day.  I spent the afternoon at Donna's house, where we had chinese.  Everyone was there and it was really nice.  Afterwards I went to my mother's house.  I had already given her her gifts, but I got her a card last night, so I gave her that.  My mother and I then went to my grandmother's house and visited her for awhile.  My mom made her homemade potato corn soup, deviled eggs, and peanut butter cookies.  She'll be set for awhile now! haha!  Tomorrow's weigh in day for me.  I really, really hope I lost a few pounds during my first week of my diet.  I even skipped the cake at lunch today, so I haven't cheated at all.  Oh, and I wanted to add, I saw a Toulouse goose today.  It was walking in the feild all by itself, which was kind of strange.  Then I noticed one dead on the road, must have been it's mate.  Poor thing...  they're so beautiful.

Blessings,
Jason

It was a warm and humid day today.  I went to the greenhouse down the road from my sister's house and bought some yellow plum tomato plants and some Big Bertha green pepper plants, too.  I'll plant them tomorrow in pots on my back deck.  We had some thunderstorms this afternoon.  It really cooled down the temperatures, which was nice.  I'm not sure how much rain we got, I need to buy a new rain guage.  Mine broke over winter when water froze in it.  I also need to buy some tomato cages.  I guess maybe I'll stop at the little hardware store across town tomorrow.  I gave my mother her mother's day gifts today, I just couldn't wait.  I got her a pair or socks that you are supposed to put on after you put lotion on your feet, to keep the moisture in. I also got her a picture frame and a nice little basket.  She really liked her gifts.  Tomorrow I'm having chinese at Donna's... it should be a nice time.

Blessings,
Jason

Well, today is day four of my diet and walking program.  I haven't cheated yet, and I've been doing well with my walking.  I feel so much healthier already!  Yay!  I can't wait until weigh-in day... Monday... So I can see how much I've lost.  My luck I will have gained a pound or two.  *Crosses Fingers*  Well, wish me luck!

Blessings,
Jason
