Christ in Christmas

I was just reading a blog about Christmas.  She loves Christmas because Christ is in it and Christ is her Savior.  Mine too!  AMEN.  I do not like it when people use X-MAS instead of Christmas, because it takes Christ out of the picture.

When I'm getting ready for Christmas and all the hub-bub with it this year, I want to keep Christ in the front of my mind.  The Christmas season is about giving.  Not (what are we going to buy, for who, how much, did we give enough, did we give to much, are they going to give to us, because we can't afford to give to them).  Giving doesn't have to be about buying stuff.  It can be a smile, a hug, inviting someone over for a meal/tea/coffee, sending a card.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!  Keep CHRIST in front of CHRIST-mas.

Canning

A friend and I put up 60 pds of green beans this week.  She had never canned green beans before, so it was fun to show her how and do it together.  I remember as a little girl my sister and I were the ones who always had to snap.  Now I get to be the boss and run the canners.  What fun we had showing our kids how to snap beans.  They all learned that they don't do it to get paid, but they get to eat.  What a concept!  Kids these days!

It was nice after we finished, sitting on the front porch sipping tea, and looking at a job well done.  We will sure enjoy our provisions this winter.  Insert Link

We also put our two tomatoe garden pickings together and canned 7 Qts. of tomatoes.  We had some left over and she made the best fresh spagetti sauce I ever had.  We used herbs from my garden and whole wheat noodles. Yum!

God blessed me with a very special friend to do this stuff with.  Thank you Friend

Have I told you lately that I LOVE YOU?  I do

My afternoon in the garden

I almost have all my garden in.  It looks so fresh out there. It has been five years working process to get the garden and yard looking nice. My littlest was out today with me planting cukes and garlic.  She was so cute in her pink shorts and rubber boots digging in the dirt.  The cat caught a mouse and was toying with it.  Finally Hubby catches it and turns it loose out in the desert behind the house.  I wouldn't let him hit it over the head with the shovel with the kids present:-). I'm sure she will catch it again and leave it for me on the front porch.

Question?  I bought garlic and it came in a pot with three bulbs.  I have never planted garlic before and wondered if you split them and plant each in a hole, or leave them altogether in a bunch?
