I can hardly breath!
On the news tonight there was a story about bacterial Meningitis at an elementary school (not mine, thank the LORD!) and my DH said "see, another reason to pull them out!"  I said, "well, I have the forms I can do it whenever you say".  SO he told me to do it ASAP!!!!!  I am in shock and scared and excited and yeah, all that!  I am so glad I joined the HSLDA, I got all the forms from them :o)  So I suppose on Monday I will send in the letter of withdrawl to their school effective 3/1/06.  Then I need to mail the letter of intent to the Superintendent of their school and then we are just going to chill, work out of some workbooks and call it a year, and start the good stuff next fall!  Wish me luck and give me plenty of encouragement and advice, I NEED IT!  And also, for any of you who also pulled kids out during the year, any advice on what to do with the once they are home?

2006-Feb-16 - How Exciting

Posted by YPAmy5

How very very exciting! Wish I was doing the same but know I must wait on God's timing. We'll be pulling our DDs out after end of this school year. I am planning on using Sonlight (expensive but I have many friends that use it and like what I see)- My DDs love to read, read, read so Sonlight will be great for them. I have been buying some of it chunk by chunk from eBay. You may also find Christian Liberty Press on eBay too- I don't know. My oldest DD is in 3rd grade and younger DD is in Kindergarten. So I'll be doing the Sonlight 3 & 4 combined core for oldest [since I don't know exactly where she is at] and Core 1 for younger. I don't feel the need for testing right now. I truly look forward to sharing this journey with you. Keep us posted!
God is Good ALL the time.

Good for you! Go for it! We didnt pull our kids during the school year, they never have even seen the inside of a public school. They are 8 and 9 now. I get our curriculum from http://www.homeschoolsupercenter.com/ Its a package deal we get, we use secular, but they have lots of bible based books too.. The prices are fantastic! Maybe you can find something there to use for your kids.

Best of luck to you all!

How EXCITING to bring your children home! In the case of your son's reservations about homeschooling, we had to address something similar in one of our children at one point and we chose to not offer options. We made the decision to homeschool, we're the parents. We were understanding and loving in the drama and it passed as time went on, homeschooling can be alot of fun!
Here's a couple of great websites I tho't I'd share. I'd spend some deschooling, relaxing time with your children when first bringing them home--we did and we havent regretted a moment! Let me know if these links arent working when you click or copy/paste!
