Our Country Life in the Big City

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; what we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

What this says to me is that unless you know the Holy Spirit and it dwells within you, you cannot really know or appreciate all the gifts and blessings that the Lord has in store for you.
