Hello Friends!!!
I am still here, and have been, just trying to get some things together for our Front Porch! I appreciate our contributing writers SO much! They do a great job and give us some great info and tips!
So... here is where I need your help. I would like you guys to email me and give me your choice for a featured blogger, is there a blog that you LOVE here at HSB? If so let me know, I have been contacting some, and I know that this is a hard time of year with so many taking vacations and traveling.
Also, I am going to be choosing the winner for our May giveaway tomorrow... look for that!
So let me know your ideas and I appreciate you guys so much!

Hello Everyone!!! My name is Chas!
I am very, very excited to be the new Senior Editor! I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself to you and just chat. You can also visit me and my family on my blog My Cup Runneth Over at Heritage Acres Farm...
I am a Christian and I am married to my best friend... his name is Shannon, we grew up together in our home town and I just adore him. He is a wonderful husband and father and I look forward to spending the rest of my life being by his side!

We have four beautiful children Cameo is 10, Eli is 5, Carlie Jean is 3 and Abram is 2... we would love for God to bless us with many more children... it is in the Lord's hands.
We live in Georgia, we have lived on this mountain all of our lives and plan on staying put unless God moves and desires for us to be somewhere else. We have 6 acres and hopefully are going to acquire the adjoining acres for pasture land.
We are working towards a more self sufficient life. Meaning that we desire to rely more on ourselves and the Lord than on this world. We have a garden and a small orchard, we hope to get chickens soon, we have had them in the past only to be picked off one by one by stray dogs. We also desire to have a dairy animal at some point, so we can have our own raw milk and make butter, cheese and soap! We homeschool our children and love the lifestyle that it provides... we can focus all of our education on the fact that the chief end of man is to Glorify God!
With this new position, I hope to help us as homesteaders, by sharing healthy home cooked recipes, ideas to live a greener life, ways to live more simply, frugal finds, gardening tips, and whatever the Lord brings across my path. I welcome this opportunity and I thank you guys for your warm affection. God's blessings to each of you!
From my homestead to yours!
~Chas~

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.

Live within your harvest. - a quote from the little book Garden Proverbs.
Isn't it funny how sometimes just a little quote can get your "wheels turning"? I've got what a friend calls a bunch of "half thoughts" going; but I'd better let those become complete thoughts before I try to share them
.
Blessings,
Catherine

That which one eats as the fruit of his own labor, is properly called food.
~from the book Garden Proverbs
In our day of processed, junky "fast food", and with all of the recent recalls on things, this quote really speaks to me.
Even the stray kitten who gratefully consumed my homemade whole wheat bread, wouldn't touch the storebought white bread I offered it yesterday! If a little kitty has enough sense not to eat it, shouldn't I??? Oh, by the way, the only reason the stuff was in our house was that we had guests last week who are not accustomed to whole foods; and I've found that some of these children won't eat even my wheat bread! Poor things don't know what they're missing.
Have a Blessed Weekend,
Catherine

I like that one! I've eaten soooo many tomatoes this summer, and I'm looking forward to even more
