Suddenly we have eggs galore. We have 14 chickens and 1 rooster. We average about close to 5 dozen eggs in about 7 or so days. I can't remember what my mom said. She gets out there b4 I do and has been keeping track of them. Then about 7 days ago we got our first goose egg, and have gotten one each day since then, yesterday my mom then found a duck egg as well. Haven't gotten another one of those but I'm sure we will. Since the geese and ducks were bought straight run we didn't have a clue to what we had, although we were sure we had at least 2 male geese becuase they were all up in your face and at you...lol. Not really mean just you could tell. So we now found out we have one female goose along with the 2 males. And since we now have had one duck egg we know we have at least one female duck. No clue if we have any more, we have 3 others and no idea if they are male of female. I wasn't even sure if we'd get eggs from either ducks or geese, as they were getting close to a year old and we hadn't gotten anything. With my chickens that are going to be a year old they started producing eggs last fall/winter not too long after going on laying mash. So ducks and geese must take longer...lol. If anyone has an idea of what to feed adult ducks and geese let me know. Becuase right now they are only getting laying mash and well obviously the males don't need to eat that. But its all new to me. We will be getting some more baby chicks this spring as well, just to make sure our egg production stays about the same. We had a couple older hens die, and have 7 other older hens, but no idea how old they are as they were given to me. So I'm learning. I don't plan to get straight run again or polish chickens...lol. Our Buff laced polish rooster is rather um aggressive. Thankfully he's the only rooster but this time I'll just stick with regular pullets :) Still deciding on if we are going to raise meat birds this year. It will all depend on what job my husband gets, as he's got most likely one week left of his current job b4 they close the doors. We've been looking but things are tough this time of the year. He's made some calls and just waiting to hear on some stuff. So if you pray, please keep us in mind with the job situation.
