Cathing up

I'm behind over here, basically I've been posting on my homeschooling blog, and can't decide if I should close this one or keep it. I don't have much to share here, unless I just share eveything from my HSing blog.

This was on August 26th or 27th

So tuesday evening my ds was outside playing, like he does. Although lately its been other tings, more like riding bike and such. He had to turn the water on for my patch of sod in front of the house, the only grass that's really green, the rest looks brown and crusty thanks to no rain.

Anyway I looked outside to see where he was and much to my amazement there's my almost 11 year old playing in the mud, well kind of, not like smack dab in the middle....lol.

Here is what I saw....

In the end he made a stream flowing into a pond of sorts. This area of our driveway collects water anyway when it rains so its not like he made this....lol.

Then he came in to tell me he found soemthing, this is what he found.

And here he is capturing the toad. I don't know why since I may have a boy but he's so not a bug/creature boys....lol

So there you have an exciting moment of my life with my son.....lol

Nothing exciting here

Posted in General Ramblings

We've not had much excitement here. We did not get a garden put in. I knew it wouldn't happen. It was middle of June when things finally got put on the garden. My dad wanted round up on it for the weed issue. Lets just say it currently looks like nothing was put on it anyway. So that was a waste of time and money.

We are plugging along on getting the hay put up. Technically we are behind because the one tractor we had to use needed to be taken back to be fixed again. but its back and working great. But the only tractor we have to use. So we can't cut and bale at the same time.

Hoping we get enough put up this year so dad doesn't have to buy hay again. Last year went horrible.

This year we did a couple different things. We had to put up an area of electric fence to keep our lovely cows in. They were out a lot last year and all over the place. So this year we weren't putting them out without it being electric at least at first.

Well they were in the are and managed to eat it all....lol. So we then put them in the field behind them, that really didn't have much to mow and bale but was great for them to eat on all summer long. So they went out there, and then the horses went with. This then left the pasture that the horses had been in open for our draft horses to go out into. So they can go out and eat as they please and less feeding hay from us during the summer months. Its been great!

Beyond that not much. Dealing with my husband still looking for a full time decent paying job. He's been dealing with it since right b4 christmas last year. He's got work here and there, and the bills are paid in full nothing behind and we have food. So its all good. Just keep praying for that job so he doesn't have to stress so much.

Egg dilema solved

Well my egg dilema is solved. We have 2 female geese and one male. So far we just get one duck egg, except the other day I had 2 in there. So I am assuming I have at least 2 female ducks too...lol.

I'll be glad when I can get them out of the barn and into their own area. Except I have no idea how or when that will happen. My husband is working a temp job right now thats 6 days a week @ about 70 hours. So he's not home much. The money will be good. But of course after this job we aren't sure what he'll be doing as there's nothing lined up.

Something will come up.
