Mackenzies Surgery!

 Mackenzie's Surgery!

My big brother Mackenzie who is 17, had surgery this morning on his foot. At  the end of the school year he was in French class and they were modeling their clothes so that they could  deminstrate that they knew their French. He was taking his pants off because he had shorts on underneath. He had a sharp pencil in the back of his pants pocket, and he stepped on it and he got lead in his foot. My mom went to go pick him up and take him to the clinic. They took some of the lead out, but they didn't take an xray after. A couple months later his foot was really bothering him when he was playing baseball, and so he went to the clinic again and they took an xray and found a piece of lead in his foot. So he had surgery this morning and they took the rest out of his foot and so he is limping around with crutches. It was a DUMB mistake! Now he can't play soccer, baseball, or have FUN! (for three weeks.)

Courtney's First Birthday

Courtney is ONE!

My how time flies!  Our first grandbaby is already having a birthday.

So hard to be so far away from her on her special day, but Grandma worked out a "field trip" so that Courtney could go collect her present.  Cracker Barrel had the perfect thing for her - a child sized rocking chair and Raggedy Ann doll!  Can't wait to get photo of her sitting in it with her doll.  What a blessing to see her growing so well after being such a peanut at 4 lb. 7 oz. just a year ago.

We Love You Courtney!

Terrible Twos?

This is Emma. I took this photo to send to my husband, to show him her latest disaster.  Emma proves her intelligence by spreading the baking soda around the kitchen with... measuring spoons. She's no dumby. At least she used the right utensils.  Emma is 2 years, 4 months and keeps us on our toes!  I think she looks either like the Grinch, or Oscar the Grouch, depending on her countenance at the time. Either way, it's rascally but endearing.

She is just starting to be ready to potty train, which means she is infatuated with the toilet and taking off her own diapers. This has lead to quite a number of disasters and booby traps. Most accompanied by lots of toilet paper.

Her favorite thing to do is to "go" which means that whenever someone is going somewhere in the car, she wants to go along. She runs to get her shoes as soon as someone gets the keys or appears to be leaving, and wails if she can't go along. We have found that if all possible, to take her along, as it keeps her strapped into a carseat  and happy, preventing less messes at home.  Sometimes even at home, we resort to the stroller, which she will buckle herself, and then find herself "stuck" which she proclaims and then soon resigns herself to sucking her first two fingers. Right now, I have to admit that she is cutest when she is sleeping. Emma is a busy girl.

Grandpa Earl and Nolan

This is my 97 year old grandpa, holding our 5 month old Nolan.  My sister and her family are visiting, so we had "custom homemade pizzas" at my parents with all the local family.  I try to take a photo of Nolan with Grandpa everytime we are together so that he can see that his great-grandpa knew him and loved to hold him.  I feel so privaledged to have a grandpa still at 44.  Not many can say that.  It's been a hard year for him health wise, and watching him fade slowly away has been difficult.  He was lucid enough to be amazed that I could sent this photo to my computer from my phone.  The things he has seen in his lifetime!  Amazing.

Blessings,

Wendy

Magic Pen

Magic Pen is a game my family and I found at www.Miniclip.com. We have found many fun games there but this one is a new summer favorite. What you try to accomplish is to get the ball or the square to the flag by drawing shapes that move the object closer to the flag. If done wrong the object will go away from the flag, If done right, it will get you closer to the flag. You have to try many shapes to get what you want, and you have to think really hard how to get the object to the flag without it falling off the screen. If it falls, you have to restart from the beginning. This is a fun game because all the family can play at once even though theres only one computer. We can all play by everyone thinking and brainstorming ideas to get the object to the flag.

Margaret's Movie Review

Margaret’s Movie Review

Today my Grandma Bergen took my sisters and I to the movie Kit Kittredge. Kit Kittredge is a movie based on an American Girl doll that lived during the Great Depression.

Kit’s father’s business gets taken away from the bank so Kits Father has to find work in Chicago.  Meanwhile Kit and her mother are boarding people in their house for money,

growing a garden for food and Kit also sells eggs.

Kit has a lot of adventures with her friends.

Kit wants to be a reporter. She types stories almost everyday.

Also, along the way she meets two hobo boys, one named Will and the other named County, who live in a place called “Hobo Jungle,” (but it is a camping area).

A hobo is a homeless person. The boys work for their food, and that’s why they come to Kit’s house.  They help Kit solve the mystery of who robbed her neighborhood.  If you want to know the rest of the story, you need to go to the movie theatre and see it yourself. I don’t want to spoil it for you.

This was a great movie because, I love adventures and this movie had lots of them. The producers put so many details in the movie. I love this movie!

Meghan's Family

This is our oldest daughter Meghan and her family.  Her husband Joey is a Marine (Ooo Rah!) and they are currently stationed in NC.  Courtney is the first grandbaby on both sides of the family and is SO sweet!  This photo was taken recently on their vacation to Hawaii, following Joey's return from Iraq. They had just visited Joey's family in KY, and came to visit us here in WA next!  We had a really nice visit with them, but we had several missing family members who missed out - Kellen and Nicole were still in Europe, and Mackenzie and Brian were in Mexico on a mission trip with the Island Church youth group.  Meghan and Courtney are soon to have their birthdays!

Introducing Ourselves

Hi! We're the Bond Family. We have created this blog as a means to encourage writing in our homeschool.  We hope that many of our children will take the opportunity to tell you about the adventures that are happening in and around our home. We plan to post photos of our latest projects, silly ideas, and great eventful moments.  I hope that our grandparents and grown children will visit to find out about the latest stuff going on around here, and that our friends might find us and check in too.  We hope you will find it entertaining and enjoyable, and may we bring glory to God in all our endeavors.
