A Good DayWell, it finally happened, a good day! Not that all my days are horrible, in the least, but as I stated in a previous entry, things haven't been going all that well for me in the homeschooling/homemaking department. I can never seem to get anything done. Today was a different story though. I know, you're all wondering (lol), did she get everything done, and is she going to stop griping? The answer is yes and no. I did get everything done today that I set out to do, but the reason is that I finally lowered my standards a bit, I told you, I need those babysteps. As much as I wanted to jump in headfirst today with schooling and housework, I didn't do it. For school today, I chose one subject for each of the children, and that's all we did for school today. It was wonderful, because at the end of school time, we didn't feel bored or tired or overwhelmed, we felt good because we got something done, but weren't faced with it all at once. We'll probably do the same tomorrow, and then maybe on Monday, we'll add another subject or two, and continue in that pattern, until we are managing all school subjects and not getting stressed about it. It may take a couple of weeks to get to them all, but I'd rather take my time with them than to force them all at once, and nothing really learned. For housework today, I decided I would do a few of the things that were bothering me the most. I've been working on laundry throughout the day and have so far managed to get about 3 loads done up, and will likely do a few more before the day is done. I straightened the laundry area a bit. I did a good cleaning on the kitchen. And I will work on straightening the family room where most of our time is spent. I've got meat thawing for sloppy joes for dinner, and that will probably fill the rest of my day. Most days I start out my day with an enormous list, and always feel so discouraged by day's end because not even half of it is done. There are still a dozen things I could get done today, but I'm not going to stress about them. They'll still be here tomorrow. I'm just going to keep babystepping my way through our new routines and getting stuff done when I can, and not stressing myself out over what's not finished yet. Thanks for sharing my good day with me. Blessings, sara { Post a Comment } { Last Page } { Page 69 of 474 } { Next Page } |
