I read something very sad just a little bit ago, got Dalyn (his wife) a very thoughtful gift. A goat! She found out today he tested positive for CAE, for those of you who are unfimilar with CAE (like me) read this. Her sad story reminded me of our sad story.

About a year ago, our sheep kept dying. We tried to figure out what in the world was wrong? Finally, we discovered that they were being poisoned. Unfortunately we were misinformed by other local shepherds (and our vet) about their diet. We were giving them too much copper in their diet. This causes copper (Cu) toxicity. Goats however, have a stronger resistance to copper than sheep. Click HERE to read more about it.

There are not that many shepherds in our area, and the ones that are in our area don't keep their sheep as pets like we do. They send theirs off to the butcher, so they don't give a hoot what they feed their sheep (we're told). Even so, my opinion would be to feed them properly, RIGHT!?!?

Well, after much research, we have changed their diet for the better. We found a few companies that sell sheep feed and feed for other animals.

So, if you're not sure your feeding your animals the right food, please check. Believe it or not, just because your vet says, "Oh, well, it's OK," (like ours did) doesn't mean it is. The internet is a great resource!

Okay, almost everyone here seems to have goats, including me. BUT, we just got them last month, and on top of it, *we* my DH and I, don't know what kind they are. We got them from a friend who was trying to get rid of them for a friend. SO, what kind of goats do we have, or what kind of goats do you think we have?

They definitely don't like their picture taken, I don't know if that factors in. This is the best I could take....and I took many.

Clever names huh? My DH has come up with some Armenian name for them, but I can't remember....I can't even pronounce it. BTW, ALL our animals have Armenian names, except for the 2 untrained dogs and fat lazy cat we have. We haven't named the fowl, or rabbits either........Okay, I take it back, the horse, donkey, sheep and goats have Armenain names. Unfortunately, I just relized that.

Again, can anyone tell me what kind of goats I have?
