• Thursday, October 30, 2008 - It's been a long time
Hi everyone,
Where did the time go?
Well the hays in, the horses are on this side of the creek and there is a little snow on the meadow.
Today is a day to snuggle up in the cabin, make some lentil soup and work on a painting.
This winter we will be helping another couple build up their homestead, so that should be fun.
Not too much to report right now.
will check in soon,
love and light,

• Friday, July 18, 2008 - Going Solar
Good Morning,
We are going Solar! We got a great deal on solar panels, so now we can power our homestead with the sun- Yahoo!
This is so exciting, especially now that gas and deisel prices have sky rocketed!
Plus it's GREEN POWER.
I added pictures on PhotoBucket under wildernesswoman, but i don't know how to link them to this site?
Can any one help me?
Hope you all have a happy weekend

• Friday, July 11, 2008 - Where to Start
Good Morning,
We bought this land 6 years ago and as there was nothing on it, we have built up our homestead little by little. As it stands now, we have 3 cabins, a shop, generator house, wood shed, barn & out house built! Also fenced most of our 40 acres.
Whew, no wonder we're tired!
We just put in indoor plumbing last fall, before that we actually showered outside. Heated water up with wood and poured it in 5 gallon bucket which we put a shower head on and showered at first with just a couple of little walls up, then we built a shower house and went on to perfect our showering experience.
I still hold the record for showering outside,( when there was just the 3 little walls up), at 25 below zero
celcius It was COLD out!!!!
We've come a long ways since then!
Hope everyone has a beautiful weekend:)
Happy Trails,
Wildernesswoman |

• Monday, July 7, 2008 - It will take some time.
I live off the grid, so don't have a regular power source. It will take time for me to write in my blog, but
will try to add to it as often as i can.
Today is overcast and cool. Laundry dried on the line though, so that's a good thing.
Tonight my hubby and i will trim the hooves on one of our horses and maybe work on our hay baler some more. Trying to get it ready for when the weathers right for making hay.
Working on making cotton socks and dish cloths in the mean time, Also making wooden utensils from old beaver wood from old dams and houses, which abounds around here and so do the beaver.
Gotta go and make supper now- basmati rice ,vegey stir fry and salad:) yummo
love and peace,
