Our Family's New Way of Life
Our family is
about to enter a whole new way of life. We are currently living a
"fast-paced suburbia life" in Florida. We are a family of 7 and dad is
the sole provider of our family. Mom stays at "home" and
homeschools their five children and also holds the title of
"president" for the largest homeschool support group in Florida. We are very active in our
growing and alive church. Our lives are filled with many good
things. But needless-to-say life is really too busy for our own good.
About 6 months ago, the dad and mom began thinking there was another way to
live. The thought of slowing life down a little was very appealing to
them. We thought of starting our own business, maybe selling homeschool
books, would be something of interest to our family. We investigated it
and although it's not our main focus, it's still a possibility.
The cost of living is soaring in Florida. The housing market has skyrocketed.
Since owning our house for 5 years it has more than tripled in value. We
began searching for other areas that would be less expensive to live.
After a few months, Tennessee came into focus. We also began correspondence with
friends that we hadn't spoken with for years who had just moved to Tennessee. So we thought maybe God was
leading us to Tennessee. We searched and decided where we would like to
live there. Then a family vacation in February was scheduled to visit our
friends in Tennessee.
We really loved it! It was just the perfect place for us to live.
The town was nearby large cities and towns and that was good for us. We
found a realtor and she was great! She had been looking for houses for us
to look at while we were visiting.
Well, we fell in love with a home. This home was situated on 23 acres of
wonderful wooded rolling hills. The home is exactly what our family
needed and the land is only what we have dreamed of. It already had a
working garden (which was a dream of mine).
So right now we are in the process of selling our current home. We have
until the end of May to sell (which is when we wanted to move anyway).
More about a want-to-be homesteader soon . . .
